Poole found guilty of murder

Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, following a trial that lasted a week and a half, Tammy Poole was found guilty on six of the seven charges brought against her including both felony murder and malice murder for the shooting death of her husband.
Michael Poole died from a gunshot wound to the head April 22, 2007, and Mrs. Poole was arrested several weeks later and has been incarcerated since then.
Before the verdict was presented, Judge Roger Bradley said, “A case cannot come this far without a degree of emotion,” and stressed that he did not want to see a “display."
The 12 jurors deliberated for three hours. The Jury Foreperson announced that they had unanimously found Poole guilty of malice murder, felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, false statement, simple battery/family violence, and felon in possession of a firearm. The jury found Poole not guilty of terroristic threats.
As the verdict was read, Poole sat looking at the jurors as Judge Bradley asked each of them if they confirmed the verdict. All jurors confidently answered yes to Judge Bradley’s questions. Spectators in the courtroom remained silent.
Poole will remain in custody of the Sheriff’s Department. A sentencing hearing will be at a later time.
