The Upper Etowah River Alliance invites the public to its' 2013 Annual Meeting on March 2, from 3-6 p.m. at the Funk Heritage Center of Reinhardt University, 7300 Reinhardt Circle, Waleska, GA 30183.  Registration fee covers admission, all activities, raffle tickets and dinner.  Registration is required as space is limited. There will be a silent auction that will include a wide array of items featuring many local businesses, craftsmen and artists.

Come early and participate in the tours, or join us later for the meeting, on-going silent auction, speaker and dinner.

 Order of Events

1-2 p.m. Guided walk through the native plant garden, the Appalachian Settlement and to the creek where the endangered Etowah darters were first discovered.

2-3 p.m. Tour of the Funk Heritage Center including the Native American displays and the very impressive antique hand tool collection.

3 p.m.  Meeting begins in the Funk Theater.  Following a welcome from Dr. Joe Kitchens, Director of the Funk Heritage Museum, the keynote speaker will be UERA Board member Don Wells, the founder and president of The Mountain Stewards (a regional nonprofit trail and canoe launch building organization) and local author. Through his work on their Trail Trees Project, Don's research and filmed interviews with tribal elders across the U.S. have resulted in a documentary film called “In the Presence of the Elders”.  Don will share their story and the film with us.  He will also have copies of his book the Mystery of the Trees on hand.

Raffle, Silent Auction and Dinner will round out the afternoon.
