Those seeking early morning biscuits or after-school brownies Thursday were met at Deb’s Bakery and Crafts on Burnt Mountain Road with yellow tape, noting the business had been “seized by the Ga. Department of Revenue.”
The business was locked and taped inside the window were several pages of legal correspondence from the Department of Revenue showing different billing periods and the amount owed for both sales tax and withholding taxes.
The billing periods represented went back several years, but did not appear to be posted on both the front and side windows in any particular order.
The bakery had been popular with the Jasper City Hall staff located next door.
One city hall employee said, “We are all in mourning.”
