Thanks for checking out our new website

Welcome to the recently redesigned Pickens Progress newspaper's website. There are still a few areas where we are experimenting and will continue to make changes during the next several weeks. If you spot anything that you feel we should change or improve upon, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We hope you find this website a useful supplement to our weekly print edition. We will continue to give regular updates of news throughout the week that we feel the people of this community may need as well as some of the stories that appear in our print edition. We do not intend to put all our stories online each week, as that is what our print edition is for. This spring, we plan to offer an e-edition which will allow subscribers access to the entire contents of our weekly print edition online on the day it hits the news stands.

We hope to expand some of the interactive features of a website to allow uploads of ads and pictures for  news as well as post form and event information that can be downloaded or printed.

As to the message board, we are considering bringing back a different styled forum that will require names and valid e-mails to post on local topics. As for now we are going to see how the comments that can be posted on each article serve the needs of our online audience.

Again, we welcome feedback either through the comments here or with aThis email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

i love the new look of the site. much nicer and more clean. my only problem with it is that i would like to look at the classifieds and it says that i have to log in to do so. but i don't have an account. is there a way to put the log in and create account buttons on the home page or on the same page that says that you have to log in. i would like an account but am not sure where the link is that takes me to that page to make one.

Sorry about that. It should be available for public viewing now. After making it live, we discovered a small glitch in the ad taking program and had to take it offline for a few hours while we re-did some of the internal workings.

Mr. Robertson, I stated (quote) "I feel the community is better off without the message board IF Rob, Bob, etc. CANNOT ACT CIVIL when faced with opposing viewpoints." As you see, I never said "silence Mr. Robertson for his view" but instead said until there is a civil attitude and a method of real discussion on the board, then the board is a bad idea.

My view stems from the fact that all you and your "friends" ever did was counter everyone who had a different opinion with insults, a threatening attitude, slander, heavy harrassment, and provided a general hostility to the board that caused everyone to reply to you and your friends in the same way.

Because of the hate and hostility the board caused (not to mention made our city and county look like neanderthals and not civilized at all) is the reason I think the board should not be re-instated. Rob, how is that censorship?

I like the new look. Great Job! My only comments are when I clicked on an advertisers banner, another page opened, but there was nothing there? Perhaps the advertiser didn't have a webpage?? Not sure. If you make the Pickens Progress banner a little bit smaller, you can get more news (or ads) on per page?

A small e additional page(s) tabs are awfully obscure, even though they are pretty front and center. Perhaps a small increase in font size and/or darker/bolder font...?

Thanks for the comment follow.

I am enjoying the new look more every day. I like that you can comment on individual stories and even rate the other comments. I wish they would be updated a bit faster, but understand there is only one editor.
