Elmo Pratt, age 80 of Stockbridge, Ga., died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009.
He was born in Greenwood, S.C .to the late Luther Robert and Willie Bethea Gibson Pratt. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey R. Pratt. Mr. Pratt retired from GM/Detroit Diesel. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church, an avid golfer, woodworker and Air Streamer.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Pratt; children, Douglas Gibson (Donna) Pratt, McDonough, Ga., and Pamela (Don) Winberg, Big Canoe, Ga.; and step-children, Alisa Duffey (Charlie) Rogers, Powder Springs, Ga., and Cherry (Rick) Umberger, Milledgeville, Ga. Five grandchildren, one step-grandson, four great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3 from the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with the Rev. Rick Statham and Dr. Steve Bingham officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the American Cancer Society. www.cannonclevelandfunerals.com
Mrs. Katherine Byers Hyde, age 70, passed away late Saturday night at her residence in Marble Hill.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Brian Russell, Jasper; sister, Ann Conner, Marble Hill; granddaughter, Brianna Russell; and nieces and nephews, Lana Conner, Angie Norton and Mike Conner.
The funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 5 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Huey Holloway officiating. Interment followed at Corinth Baptist Church. Pallbearers were: Leonard Poole, Rob Lenher, Sam Key, Danny Lanam, Mike Craddock, David Waldrop and John Bryant.
Mr. Billy R. Childers, age 75 of Hinton, passed away late Saturday night at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Childers; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Carolyn Childers, Talking Rock, and Kenneth Childers and Tony and Bobbie Jo Childers, all of Hinton; daughters and sons-in-law, Annie and Gary Faucett, Calhoun, and Gladys and Tim Raynes, Jasper; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy Lowery, Alabama, Jeanette Boling, Calhoun, Sue and Bobby Gudger, Alabama, and Faye and Randall Pendley, Talking Rock. Fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. from Hinton United Methodist Church with Pastors Jim Schlicht and Gary Quarrels officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Danny and Lamar Childers, Alan Evans, Richie and Jerry Hancock, Jay Boling and Jerry Timms. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Betty C. Heard, age 81 of Canton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at Grandview Healthcare Center.
She was a seamstress and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Heard, Canton; sons, Larry A. Heard, McDonough, and Robbie Heard, Clayton Community; daughters, Annette Rutledge and Diane Harmon, both of Clayton; James Coker, Canton; sisters, Sue McCoy and Linda Edge, both of Canton; and sister-in-law, Alma Cain, Canton. Ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Allen, Calvin Ball, Buddy Roper and Bobby Segars officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. South Canton Funeral Home & Chapel in charge of arrangements.
