Mrs. Jessie Blackwell
Mrs. Jessie Delina Blackwell, age 65 of Calhoun, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Mrs. Blackwell was born in Shelbyville, Tn. on Jan. 17, 1944, the daughter of the late Adam R.C. and Lois Elizabeth Fowler DeFoor. She was retired from Lacey Mills and was a member of Fairmount First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James Howard Blackwell of the home; son, Jamie Fann, Tate, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Shirley DeFoor, Calhoun; nephews, Matt DeFoor and wife Tishanna, Rome, and Neil DeFoor and wife Nadia, Calhoun; great-nephew, Rand DeFoor; and great-niece, Avery DeFoor.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, July 15 at 2 p.m. from Fairmount First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Langston officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Cemetery. Wayne Fowler conducted the graveside rites. Active pallbearers were the men of Fairmount First Baptist Church. Music was arranged by the church choir. Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis Green
Phyllis A. Cook Green, age 78 of Woodstock, G., died Tuesday, July 14, 2009.
Survived include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Michael Durrett, Ellijay, Ga.; sons and daughter-in-law, H. Douglas and Jenny Payne, Woodstock, Ga., and Anthony ?Bryan? Payne, Dahlonega, Ga.; and sisters, Shirley Whitaker, Jasper, Ga., and Carol McAfee, Kennesaw, Ga. Four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16 from the Chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with Pastor Mike Hatton officiating. Burial followed the service at Pine Ridge Memorial Park in Kennesaw.

Barbara Donaldson
Mrs. Barbara Jean Donaldson, age 57 of Fairmount, formerly of Canton, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at her residence. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her fiance, Eugene Hodges, Fairmount; sons, Lamer Donaldson, Fairmount, and Christopher Paul Donaldson, Holly Springs; daughters and son-in-law, Vanessa and Dustin Carver, Talking Rock, and Eugenia Lynn Donaldson, Marietta; sisters, Mary Samford, Winnie Lummus, Lorene Morgan and Katherine Dobson, all of Canton, Patsy Johnson, Ball Ground, and Shirley Wright, Cumming; brothers, Jimmy Phillips, Jackson, L.C. Phillips, Waleska, and Billy Phillips, Canton. Five grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 21 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Joey Phillips and Jason Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Macedonia Memorial Park.

Joel Tanner
Joel T. Tanner, age 59 of Canton, passed on July 18, 2009 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C.
Mr. Tanner retired from Lucent Technologies in 1988. He was a past national officer of the Canton Jaycees and was chosen as one of five Outstanding Young Men of Cherokee County. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Fellowship and was the youth Sunday School director for many years at Canton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Smith Tanner, Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Heather Tanner, Ball Ground; daughter and son-in-law, Staci and Rickey Mock, Canton; grandchildren, Tanner Jordan and Brooke Alexandria Mock, Canton; father-in-law, Clyde Smith, Canton; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Charlotte Tanner, Duluth, and sister, Jeanne Ross, Trenton, Ga. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 21 from Heritage Baptist Fellowship with the Revs. Jake Hall, Bill Parnell, Mike Ware and Dan Henderson officiating. Interment followed in Cherokee Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to Heritage Baptist Fellowship, 3615 Reinhardt College Pkwy., Canton, Ga. 30114. Joyce Carr
Mrs. Joyce Faye Carr, age 64 of Jasper, Ga., passed Wednesday afternoon, July 15, 2009 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include her husband, John Carr, Jasper; sons, Jay Carr, Jasper, and James Carr, Atlanta; daughter, Julie Carr, Jasper; brother, Ronnie Ray, Jasper; sisters, Barbara Ware, Dallas, and Ruth Parker, Jasper. Mrs. Carr was preceded in death by her other, Grace Ray.
The funeral service was held Saturday, July 18 at 2 p.m. from County Line Baptist Church with the Revs. Jess Posey and Buck Parker officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Stephen Ware, David, William, Randy and Michael Ray and Jerry Parker. Honorary pallbearers were: Vaughn Ware and Adam Roper. The family did accept flowers or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Terry Lacy, Jr.
Mr. Terry Charles Lee Lacy, Jr., age 39 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009 as a result of an accident in Summerville.
Survivors include his wife, Tabitha McBee, Jasper; parents, Charles and Mildred Lacy, Ellijay; grandparents, Ernest Buckner, Ellijay, and Pap Howard, Jasper; sons, Justin Richards, Dylan Lee and Dusty Wayne Lacy, all of Ellijay, and Hunter Lee Lacy, Jasper; daughters, Denisha Aron Lacy, Ellijay, and Siera Leann Lacy, Jasper; sisters, Tina Weaver and Mary Ann Henson, both of Ellijay. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Ethel Buckner, Lelila B. Lacy and William Alonzo Lacy.
The funeral service was held Sunday, July 19 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Silvers officiating. Pallbearers were: Dylan, Dusty and Denisha Lacy, Monty Lane, Mitchell Jones, Randy and Norman Osbourne and Jesse Lillard. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to Terry Charles Lacy, Jr. Trust at any Wachovia Bank.

L. Stewart Solomon, Jr.
L. Stewart Solomon, Jr. passed away Sunday evening at Lutheran Memorial Hospital in Ft. Wayne, In. after a battle with an extended illness.
He was a registered land surveyor with his business, L. Stewart Solomon and Associates, located in Jasper, Ga. Mr. Solomon died peacefully surrounded by his family.

Lois Baptist
Mrs. ?Lois? Jeanette Baptist, age 81 of Jasper, Ga., died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born April 20, 1928 in Stillwell, Ok., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Allen and Lettie Elizabeth Ralston Mathis. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Martin. Mrs. Baptist had worked as a chef in the motel/hotel industry and was a member of the Grove Level Baptist Church in Dalton, Ga.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Rev. John Baptist, Jasper; daughters, Barbara Salyer, Big Cypress Indian Reservation, Fl., Diane Watters, Shannon, Ga., and Wanda Martin, Gadsden, Al.; and sons, James Martin, Collinsville, Al., and Marty Martin, Edgewater, Fl. Four sisters, two brothers, 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.
At her request, Mrs. Baptist was cremated and a memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 1 at the First Baptist Church of Jasper. Speakers will be Billy Stark, Ronald Kyle, Dwayne Hill and Wayman Chambers. Interment of the cremains will follow in Grovel Level Baptist Church Cemetery in Dalton, Ga. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Kathryn Uher
Kathryn Elaine Uher, age 53 of Cartersville, died July 19, 2009.
She is predeceased by both parents and survived by daughter, Christina (Charles) Crothers, Cartersville; son, Chad (Tammie) Humphrey, Pekin, In.; and five grandchildren, Charles Crothers, Jr. and Christopher Driver, both of Cartersville, Brianna Humphrey, Cody Farnsley and Amanda Farnsley, all of Pekin, In.
A memorial service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 870 Peeples Valley Road, Cartersville, Ga. on Wednesday, July 22 at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Heartland Hospice, 9 Medical Drive, Cartersville, Ga. 30121. Cremation Society of the South in Marietta in charge of the arrangements.

Minnie Stell
A memorial service will be held in loving memory of Miss Minnie Stell on August 2, 2009, who was born on October 13, 1914 and passed away in Alabama on July 9, 2009. The service will be held at Full Fellow Ship Baptist Church in Marble Hill, Ga. starting at 2 p.m. Food and refreshments will follow. Friends and family are welcome.

Tim Edwards
Mr. Tim Edwards, age 51 of Pickens County, Ga., passed away Monday, July 20, 2009 at his residence.
Survivors include his mother, Faye Edwards, Hinton Community; sons, Stephen Edwards, Villa Rica, and Brian Edwards, Scottsboro, Al.; and brothers, Charles Edwards, Ludville, and Jerry Edwards, Hinton Community. Four grandchildren also survive. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his father, J.L. Edwards.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Gordan DeLashmitt and Chris Romine officiating. Interment followed in the Hinton Community Cemetery.
