Christopher Young
Christopher L. Young, age 42 of Rydal, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Richard and Charlotte Young, Rydal; daughter, Ashley Cochran, Jasper; and brothers, William Young, Holly Springs, and Robert Young, Rydal.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Dr. Marvin Ellis and Rev. Grover Hillard officiating. Interment followed in Macedonia Memorial Park.

Weldon Mullinax
Mr. Weldon E. Mullinax, age 81 of Jasper, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born April 1, 1927 in Pickens County, Ga., he was the son of the late Mack and Lola Goss Mullinax. Mr. Mullinax was a US Army veteran having served during World War II and had worked as a manager with Gold Kist. He was a deacon and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Grace Mullinax, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Claude Wegscheider, Atlanta, Ga.; and brother, Don Mullinax, Jasper. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Harold Cantrell, Gary Parker and William Darnell officiating. Interment followed in Lake Forest Memorial Park. Pallbearers were: Luke Denson, Gene Free, David Johnson, Gary Anderson, Taylor Ingram and Christopher Wilkie. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to Adventa Hospice, 140 Progress Circle, Ste. 3, Blue Ridge, Ga. 30513 or the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, c/o Jerry L. Gibson, 2601 Bryant Road, Jasper, Ga. 30143. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Janet Rathgeb
Mrs. Janet Faye Rathgeb, age 49 of Jasper, Ga., died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, Ga. following a period of declining health.
Born August 13, 1959 in Tift County, Ga., she had resided in Pickens County for the past 24 years. Janet, along with her husband, were co-owners/co-operators of Sharp Mtn. Vineyard. She was of the Baptist faith.
Jan was a very unique person. In the 1980s, she managed the ?lunch crew? at Main St. Cafe. Jan was a versatile, hard-working ?mountain woman.? She was the driving force behind the construction of two log cabins, a sawmill and the incredible construction and expansion (as well as manager) of the 5-acre Sharp Mountain Vineyard.
Jan was an adoring grandmother of five, raising two grandchildren at her home. She was exceptionally generous, frank, humorous, an amazing cook, fantastic gardener and an avid reader.
Jan was a devoted wife, loving daughter, adoring grandmother, wonderful sister, devoted aunt and a true friend. Jan will never be replaced and will be forever missed.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Ronald G. Rathgeb, Jasper; sons, Matthew Sean Rathgeb, Jasper, and Aaron Todd Rathgeb, Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren, Austin, Hailey and Molly Rathgeb; mother and step-father, Geraldine and Hank Galbreath, Pickens, S.C.; father and step-mother, Gerald E. and Christiane Clark, Columbus, Ga; sisters, Debby Flowers, Kennesaw, Diana Carter, Columbus, Ga., and Vivian Malloy, Albuquerque, N.C.; brothers, Kenneth Malloy, Germany, and Jerry Carter, Pickens, S.C.; and grandmother, Mrs. Elenor Dean. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
At her request, Janet was cremated. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Von Hinton officiating. Flowers were accepted; however, those desiring to do so may make contributions to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 2600 Network Blvd., Frisco, Tx. 57034.

Sue Upshaw
Mrs. Sue Upshaw, age 78 of Jasper, Ga., passed at DeKalk Medical Center, Decatur, Ga., Friday afternoon, Oct. 24, 2008.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Bill Upshaw, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Jimmy Cash, Winder, Ga., and Pat and Ron Landress, Dahlonega, Ga.; and grandchildren, Brian Cash, Gina Hood and Bill Landress. Eight great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. from full Fellowship Baptist Church in Marble Hill with the Rev. John Bryant officiating. Interment followed in Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery in Dawson County. Pallbearers were: Justin Buice, Corey and Bill Landress, Brian Cash and Jeff, Jordan and Austin Hood. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Will Gregory
Will Luther Gregory, age 87 of Marietta, passed away Oct. 26, 2008.
Mr. Gregory retired as a construction superintendent with Pinkerton & Laws Construction Company. He was a member of Fair Oaks Methodist Church. Mr. Gregory is preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Rabun Gregory, and his son, Kenneth Gregory.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Sue Gregory, Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and David Wood, Austell; brother, Bernard Gregory, Hiawassee; five grandchildren, Donna Stephens, Debbie Meritt, Anthony Greene, Amanda (Gregory) Medders and Jacob Allen Gregory.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 from the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta with the Rev. Roland Yarborough officiating. Burial was in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
