Mr. David Rowlett, age 50 of Jasper, died Sunday night, August 24, 2008 from injuries sustained in a single-truck accident off a steep Cove Road embankment.
David was born in Tampa, Fl. Jan. 22, 1958. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee ?Bob? Rowlett. David graduated high school from Lamar Co. High School and worked many years as a paramedic and EMT. He currently worked at Royston.
David was a member of Jasper United Methodist Church, performing with the choir and in their drama productions was his joy. The spirit of caring and friendship at JUMC really meant a lot to David. Caring for others was David?s personality. He always took time to help those in need.
David enjoyed supporting his nieces and nephew by attending games, recitals, events and even practices. He loved gardening and sharing the bounty of his work just as his father, Bob, did. David enjoyed Corvairs, chainsaws, old cars, timber frame building, NPR and classical music. He was a past officer of the Atlanta Corvair Club.
Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Kinza Rowlett of Dexter, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Marcia (Rowlett) and Rick Jasperse of Jasper; nieces, Kyalla Rowlett and Elizabeth and Mary Alice Jasperse; and nephew, Bob Jasperse. His Australian shepherd dog, Bubba, also survives. Step-mother, Grace Rowlett of Orange Park, Fl. and step-brother, Curt Rowlett of Seattle, Wash. also survives.
David?s family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home Wednesday night from 5-9. Funeral services will be held at Jasper United Methodist Church Thursday, August 28 at 10 a.m. with visitation prior to the service there at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the JUMC Music Memorial Fund.
Mrs. Carrie Poole Stancil, age 88 of Jasper, passed away Friday morning, August 15, 2008 at Grandview Health Care Center.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Cheryl Stancil, Jasper, and Sam Stancil, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Fred Phaby, Ellijay; and grandchildren, Kris and Allison Stancil and Jodi and Marius Deetleff, all of Jasper. Two great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, August 17 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Min. Kris Stancil and the Rev. Norman James officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Jerry Patterson, Ralph and Ricky Poole, William Payne, Allen Wigington and Rick Little. Honorary pallbearers were: Tommy Massey, Tommy Arrendale and Ben Patterson. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to Georgia Mountains Hospice, 70 Caring Way, PO Box 580, Jasper, Ga. 30143.
Chuck Nealey, age 55 of Marietta, passed Tuesday, August 19, 2008.
Chuck was born in Marietta, Ga. and lived in Cobb County almost all of his life. He worked for Pepsi for 25 years and won several awards. He served in the Army from 1972 to 1976. Chuck graduated from Sprayberry High School.
Survivors include his son, Josh; wife, Patti; daughter and son-in-law, Heaven and Jason; granddaughter, Tristen; mother, Gwendolyn; brothers, David and Rick; and sisters, Diana Williams, Brenda Thompson and Patti Anthony. Thirty nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008 from Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Bobby Anthony officiating. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Ste. 1, Marietta, Ga. 30067.
Mr. Junior Arp, age 70 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. He was born on June 23, 1938 to the late James B. and Elsie Arp.
Survivors include his fiance, Helen Mull, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Jimmy Smith, Jasper, and Libby and Joey Wells, Ellanville; son, Chad Arp, Woodstock; sisters, Genny Alexander, Rome, and Barbara Roper, Jasper; special friend, Jerry Mull, Jasper; and grandchildren, Macey Roper, Lena Smith, Ashley, Aaron and Kyle Arp and Adam and Justin Wells.
The funeral service was held Monday, August 25 at 2 p.m. from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Robert Allen, Jerry Banks, Larry Hannah and Terry Dean officiating. Burial was in Lake Forest Memorial Park with the following serving as pallbearers: Scott and Jonathon Mull, Eric Caldwell, Joe Lawson, Craig Nicholson and Donnie Arp.
Mary Bell Denney
Mary Bell (Waters) Denney, age 75 of Chatsworth, Ga., passed from this life on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Chatsworth Health Care Center.
She was born Oct. 9, 1932 to her late parents, Lillian Ruth Rice and Ernest Silvester Denney, in Blue Ridge, Ga. Mary loved flowers and enjoyed arranging them and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Cantrell and Ernest Denney; son, Travis Cantrell; sister, Ovelle Waters Patters; and brother, Tommy Hayden Waters.
Survivors include her daughters, Paulette Allen and Margaret Bolin, both of Chatsworth, and Katie Ruth Yon, Sumter, S.C.; sons, Marvin Cantrell, Blue Ridge, Kirk Cantrell, Dalton, Ga., Ray Cantrell, Meridian, Ms., and Clay Cantrell, Hixton, Tn. Fifteen grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and sister and brother-in-law, Willan and Ray Roberson, Crossville, Tn., also survive.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 27 from Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Parrish officiating. Interment was held in Milsaps Cemetery.
