Ronnie Mosley
    Mr. Ronnie Mosley, age 66 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the North Fulton Regional Hospital.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, G.D. and Lela Stancil Mosley.
    Survivors include his wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Mosley, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Ronda and Chris Howard, Canton; grandchildren, Hayden, Camalyn and Kellen Howard, Canton; brother, Danny Mosley, Jasper; nephews, David and Jamie Mosley and Devan Mosley, and Jimmie and Aubrey Hammontree Jr., Tate, and Allison; and brother- and sister-in-law, Jimmie and Connie Hammontree.
    The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Rev. Al McMillan officiating. Interment  followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Pickens Chapter #47 in charge of graveside rites.
The family requests in lieu of flowers to make contributions to the Sharp Top Baptist Church, c/o Robbie Heard, 341 Upper Bethany Road, Ball Ground, Ga. 30107.

Harold Hendrix
    Mr. Harold Perlie Hendrix, age 93 of Marble Hill, entered into rest on Sunday April 28, 2013, at his residence.
    Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Paul Hendrix and Maurice Toddy and Joan Hendrix, all of Marble Hill; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Larry Holden and Betty and Donnie Fowler, all of Marble Hill; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Eloise Hendrix, Jasper; and sisters, Ruby Brooks, Ball Ground, and Willie Grace Brooks, Marble Hill. Mr. Hendrix had six grandchildren, Stacy, Kelley, Angie, Joyce, Amanda and Jonathan; step-granddaughter, Donna; eight great-grandchildren; step-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
    The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, from the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Huey Holloway and Joey Watson officiating. Interment followed at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ronnie Harrington, Randall and Jerry Brooks, Jonathan Hendrix, Tim Holloway, Ted Estes, Daniel Puckett and Ricky Dean. Honorary pallbearers were: Arthur Atkins, Forrest Tidwell, Wayne Anderson, Jack, Bobby and Eddie Brooks and Dean Cantrell. The family did accepted flowers or donations to Corinth Baptist Church Christmas Fund.

Louise Holmes
    Mrs. Louise Buchanan Holmes, age 86 of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at her home following a lengthy illness.
    She is survived by her husband, David Winfield Holmes, Jasper,; sons and daughter-in-law, Ronnie Holmes, Jasper, and Donnie and Susan Holmes, Ranger; daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Tommy Chumley, Jasper; brother-in-law, Paul Qualls, Jasper; and grandchildren, Sam Holmes, Atlanta, David Holmes, Jasper, Alison and Mark Adams, Woodstock, and Joe Chumley and fiance Alicia Bailey, Jasper. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Grace Buchanan; brother, Kenneth Buchanan; and sister, Faye Qualls.
    The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, from the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Ramirez officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
     The family did accept flowers or donations can be made to the Jasper First Baptist Church, Georgia Mountains Hospice or to Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Timothy Burton
    Timothy Fred Burton, age 51, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at his home in the Ludville community.
    His survivors are all residents of Pickens County and include his mother, Betty Doris Burton; son, Adam Burton; brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Lacey Burton; and nephews, Griffen Burton and Sam Burton. He was predeceased by his father, Fred Burton; and his sister, Jan Burton Lawson.
    Tim was an active volunteer for Pickens County Habitat for Humanity and received honors from them for his devoted service. He also went on their trip to the Gulf Coast to help following Hurricane Katrina. On his 51st birthday they honored him with a surprise birthday party.
    Tim loved helping others and has constructed many wheelchair ramps for the disabled, donating time, labor and often the required materials.
    Tim was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper. He has participated in their annual Youth Mission Trips for many years. These mission trips to underserved areas in the South involved construction and repairs. He loved teaching various construction skills to the youth participants and encouraged them to seek opportunities to help others.
    The funeral service was conducted Saturday, May 4, in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home, with Dr. Jimmy Lewis and Dr. Charlie Boggan officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Mark Hinton, Kyle Rasco, Neil Boggan, Hubert Smith and Stuart and Scott Mason. Honorary pallbearers were Habitat for Humanity personnel.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials be directed to the Youth Mission Trip, First Baptist Church, 198 East Church Street, Jasper, Ga. 30143.

Renita Mullinax-Mahar
    Renita Mullinax-Mahar went to Heaven on Friday, May 3, 2013. She is now at peace with no more pain. She was an angel on Earth and a wonderful daughter.
    She is survived by her parents, O.T. and Colleen Mullinax, Columbia, S.C.; and aunts and uncles, Ronny and Mamie Forrester and Delores Mullinax, all of Jasper, Ga., Ricky and Elaine Mills, Canton, Ga., and Angie Huffman of Morgantown, Ga.
    She was preceded in death by the love and light of her life, Joe Mahar.
    She also had many friends all over the US and very special neighbors in South Carolina and Tennessee.
    Arrangements were entrusted to Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, 1510 Madison Street, Clarksville, Tn. 37040.

Kathleen Fleming
    Kathleen Glisson Fleming died in an accident in Cancun, Mexico, on April 27, 2013, at the age of 39.
    Kathleen is survived by her parents, Charles and Linda Fleming, Jasper, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Debra Fleming, Atlanta, Ga.; niece, Samantha Fleming, Atlanta, Ga.; and nephews, Henry and Joshua Fleming, Atlanta, Ga.
    Born in the small Southern coastal town of Brunswick, Ga., on March 12, 1974, Kathleen was raised on St. Simons Island, Ga., moved to Orange County, Ca., in 1980, finished high school in Orono, Mn., 1989-92, and attended Emory University in Atlanta where she graduated with a Business degree in 1997.
    Kathleen was most recently director of Entertainment Development at LEGO, managing studio relationships to produce entertainment content for a variety of LEGO themes. Prior to joining the LEGO Group, Kathleen held senior management positions in various advertising firms including TBWA Chiat Day, Deutsch, Saatchi & Saatchi and Lowe Lintas.
    Although Kathleen hailed from a small Southern town, she was a citizen of the world. She studied abroad in Spain in college. After college, she lived in New York, London, Chicago and Los Angeles. Her work took her through Europe, Australia and Asia. She traveled across Europe, the Mediterranean and South America on holiday, and led a team to Sri Lanka with Habitat for Humanity to help rebuild after the 2004 tsunami. She also led a team to Mississippi to help rebuild after hurricane Katrina.
    Kathleen loved her family, her friends and her work. She loved books, movies and music.  She loved exercising, trying new restaurants with her friends and hiking in the hills with her dog, Daphne. She loved to laugh and she loved life.
    Kathleen was always there for those who needed her and she was fiercely loyal. If you were her friend, you were friends for life. Kathleen professed her faith in Christ and is alive with Him in Heaven now and for all eternity. “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he die;  and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” - John 11:25-26.
    There will be two memorial services, one in the Los Angeles area and one in Jasper. Details to be determined later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Rev. Charles Groover
    In  Loving Memory of Rev. Charles A. Groover, age 73 of Chatsworth, Ga., entered into rest on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Floyd Medical Center.
    Rev. Groover is survived by his wife, Faye Kelly Groover, Chatsworth; sons and daughter-in-law, Rodger Alan Allgood, Jasper, Andy and Stephanie Groover, Cartersville, Ga., and Jeff Cline, Piedmont, S.C.; daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and Hutch Monroe, Adrian and Tony Wilson and Angie Pritchard, all of Jasper, and Jennifer and Grant Walls, Chatsworth, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Joann Groover; sister, Peggy Allgood; sister- and brother-in-law, Martha and Webster Newberry; and mother-in-law, Reba Kelly.  Mr. Groover had 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rev. Groover was preceded in death by his brother, RM (Gus) Groover.
    Visitation was on Friday, May 3, and 8 a.m. Saturday until the funeral hour. The funeral service was Saturday, May 4, at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Max Kaylor officiating. Entombment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum. Pallbearers were: Tim Prather, Ben Allgood, Kris Logan, Jordan Walls, Dylan Hollifield and Dean Pritchard. The family  accepted flowers or donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Roxie Whitfield
    Mrs. Roxie Pearl Whitfield, age 69 of Ball Ground, Ga., died Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Embracing Hospice in Cumming, Ga., following a period of declining health.
    Born July 27, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Alice Dodd Ledbetter.  Mrs. Whitfield was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her husband, Mack Whitfield, Ball Ground; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Helen Whitfield, Talking Rock, Ga., and Don and Angel Whitfield, Jasper, Ga.; granddaughter, Nickie Whitfield, Jasper, Ga.; sisters, Martha Fain and Sarah Flossie Davis, both of Morganton, Ga.; and brothers, Joe Ledbetter, Canton, Ga.. Jimmy Ledbetter, Tennessee, Ranson Ledbetter, North Carolina, Sherman Ledbetter, Maryland, Charles Ledbetter, Jasper, Ga., and Veston Ledbetter, Dawsonville, Ga. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    The family did receive friends from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday and until funeral time on Thursday at Roper Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Tatum officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Dub Blackwell
    In  Loving Memory of Mr. William WM (Dub) Blackwell, age 67 of Jasper, Ga., who entered into rest on Friday, May 3, 2013, at his residence.
    Mr. Blackwell is survived by his daughter, Sherry Patterson, Jasper; son, Jimmy Blackwell, Tate, Ga.; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Selma and Jimmy Dobson, Yellow Creek, Ga., Carolyn and Gene Hyde, Loretta and Eddie Brackett and Doris and Ollie Holden, all of Ball Ground, Ga. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Blackwell is also survived by his three grandchildren, Julie and Lance Lee, Clint and Caitie Jabaley and Chassidy Patterson; and three great-grandchildren, Lucas Lee, Madelynn Jabaley and Paisley Wilson.
    Mr. Blackwell was preceded in death by his mother and father, Rufus and Mae Blackwell; brothers, Floyd and Donas Blackwell; and son, Bryan Blackwell.
    The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, at Yellow Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Hyde and Gary Poole officiating. Interment followed in Yellow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were: Phil Blackwell, Kenney Dobson, Charlie and David Holden, Freddie Brackett and Holden Blackwell. Honorary pallbearer was Timmy Edwards. The family accepted flowers or donations to Cagle Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Mariam Hinton
    Mariam Louise Hinton, age 85 of Jasper, Ga., passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Hinton, and is survived by her daughters, Jackie (Dennis) Carlisle,  Canton, Ga., and Rebecca (Terry) Luster, Marietta, Ga.; sister, Nancy Chevalier, Marshall, Mo.; and brothers, Carroll Dean Oquest, Tucson, Az., and Howard Oquest, Banning, Ca; Fourteen grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren also survive.          A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3448 Hicks Road, Marietta.
