Sharptop Arts Association is happy to announce our first annual Patio & Garden Auction Fundraising event --- a new twist on our Feathered Event that you won’t want to miss.
“For three years now Sharptop’s main fundraiser has been the Feathered Event where artists have donated birdhouses to be auctioned off. This has
been very successful in the past,” said SAA President Angela Reinhardt, “but this year our executive director Jeanette Bottari and the board and I decided to expand the theme to include anything that can be used for your patio or garden, things like wind chimes, chairs or planters to keep the interest and creativity alive.
“This year’s fundraiser is especially important because we have just added the paid position of executive director, which has allowed us more stability, but funding is needed to keep that position alive and help us grow.”
Donated art is beginning to come in both locally and from around the county, including pieces from contemporary folk artist Nancy Thomas from Yorktown, Va; Ken “Blacktop” Gentle from Rome, Ga; Gale Mallet from Cape Cod, Mass; Debbie Brownlee, Jeanette Bottari, Kathe Hall and Jo Davis from Jasper, Ga. and many, many more.
Sharptop is also happy to announce the addition of a two-piece band, Daniel Johnson and Randy Dobson, who will be playing on the stage in our beautiful Visionary Gardens for people who want to take a break from the auction. There will also be top-notch catering from the well-known Coast 2 Coast catering company, which is owned and operated by owners of Madeline’s Café and Millie’s Diner in Jasper.
We are also ecstatic to have Kyle Waters of Kyle Waters Auction Company back this year to run the auction, bringing with him his lively auctioneering style that will keep the event exciting and fun.
Each ticket is just $10, and you get entry to the event, heavy hors d'oerves, entertainment and one drink ticket. The auction begins at 6:30 p.m. but you can preview the items ahead of time from 4-6 p.m. The awards ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. for entries that are part of the competition.
If you can’t make the event but would like to view the pieces or bid early for something you want to take home, you can visit during our regular business hours on Thursday, May 9 from 12 - 4 p.m.; Friday, May 10 from 12 - 4 p.m.; or Saturday, May 11 from 10 - 2 p.m.
