Man commits suicide on Hwy 575 near Holly Springs

    A standoff between an armed man and police on Hwy 575 near Holly Springs ended in suicide the morning of Sunday, April 14.

    Officers responded to a man armed with a gun at I-575 southbound, according to Holly Springs police . When officers arrived they found a man in body armor holding a gun to his head.

     Traffic was shut down in the southbound lane of Hwy 575 and officers attempted to talk the man into surrendering his weapon, but the man took his life.

     The man as since been identified as James Allen Woods, Jr, age 30, of Toccoa, Georgia.  Holly Springs Police detectives were able to locate and notify Mr. Woods’ family late Sunday evening.  Detectives are still working to try to piece together what prompted Mr. Woods to take his life Sunday morning

he was depressed because he didn't own enough guns, because the govmunt wouldn't let him. more guns would have saved his life...
