PHS Culinary Arts 2nd in state

Three members of the PHS Culinary Arts team

On March 15, Pickens High School FCCLA Culinary Arts team traveled to Athens, Ga., to compete for the state title. At the state competition the students prepared a meal of Chicken Alfredo with sliced mushrooms and blanched asparagus with a side garden salad. The competition was extremely tough and was composed of the top 2 teams from each of the 9 FCCLA regions around the state. PHS placed 2nd in the state.

Congratulations to team members for all their hard work and success. The team consisted of Theron Bouchie, Elisha Roland and Chase Allday.
Pickens High School also had several other culinary students compete in individual events: Kelvin Prather placed 2nd in Creative Garnishes, Morgan Anderson placed 3rd in Baking and Pastry and Daniel Wills placed 3rd in Chicken Fabrication. Joe Gimino also competed in Safety and Sanitation.
The Culinary Arts class at PHS will once again be sponsoring a lasagna dinner fundraiser.  The frozen lasagna will be available for pick up inside the Culinary Arts at lab at PHS on April 11-12. The cost of the lasagna will be $25. Please contact Sue Gibbons [email protected] for more information.
