Sharptop Arts Association is excited to once again be hosting the Youth Art Show for students in Pickens County, and we would like to invite the public to come out and see firsthand the beautiful art our children can create.
Last weekend, over 100 parents, students and teachers from five elementary schools attended the elementary school reception, making the day a resounding success, and now Sharptop is anxious to see the work of our middle schoolers, followed by the high schoolers in the remaining two shows.
The Youth Art Show, which is being sponsored by Piedmont Mountainside Hospital, will run through April 28 with receptions for each.
The middle school show will begin Thursday, March 20 and will run through Sunday, April 7, with the reception being held on April 7 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
The high school show will begin Thursday, April 11 and run through Sunday, April 28, with the reception being held on Sunday, April 28 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
We are pleased to announce that the high school exhibit will be on display through Jasper ArtFest, when Sharptop will host an artist reception for vendors the evening of Saturday, April 20. We are proud that the work of our students will be seen by working artists from the area.
We are also hosting a Patio & Garden Party Auction and Fundraiser on May 11, and are inviting you to create a few pieces that you can donate for the auction, which goes to support Sharptop, a 501c3 non-profit. There are so many possibilities for everyone to join in the fun. How about some wind chimes? A welcome sign? What about a painted or mosaic pot with a plant or a patio chair? Got some ideas? Don't just sit there - get moving and create! This is one of our biggest fundraisers for the year and what better way to have a great time while supporting arts in your community.
Our Yard Art Show begins April 11, which will be displayed in our "yard," the beautiful Visionary Gardens. We invite you to dream up some spectacular work of art that can be placed outside and that will be for sale.
Your art can be functional or non functional, serious or silly, big or small (but not too big).
The Sharptop Gallery is open Thursday and Friday from 12-4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
You can find the applications for the auction and yard art show on our website, at www.sharptopartsassociation.org or at www.pickensprogress.com. You can also pick up hard copies at the art center at 68 D.B. Carroll Street in Jasper.
