Being a “Friend of Youth,” the Optimist Club works to support and motivate Pickens County youth to realize and enhance their special skills and talents that will lead them to success and fulfilling relationships throughout their lives.
The contest will help youth to develop their writing skills. It will also provide them the opportunity to think about their relationships with their peers and the community and about important issues of the day.
There is much talent in the youth of today. The Optimists are excited about reading their views and stories about their activities and relationships with their friends, and the values and talents that they see in their friends.
Through the contest, the youth can lead the way to fulfill an important part of the Optimist Ideal, “Promise yourself…..to make all your friends feel there is something in them.”
Founded in 1985, the Optimist Club of Jasper engages with youth in many action projects and financial support of youth organizations to help young people to be the best they can be. The Optimists follow the many positive ideals expressed in their Optimist Creed and encourage youth to follow these ideals of optimism.
