This week you have a chance to see live marble sculpting at Lee Newton Park in Jasper. Tennessee sculptor Bill Cook Jr. will be carving a piece that will be donated to the Pickens County Chamber of Commerce at the end of the Georgia Marble Festival. Following this year's theme "Medieval Marble," Cook is sculpting a knight kneeling at the knee of a lady. "This is to show that chivalry is not dead," Cook said.
You can see Cook Wednesday through Friday from 10 - noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. He will be working the same hours of the Georgia Marble Festival on Saturday and Sunday, and will also have a booth with other pieces he has sculpted. Follow the link below to see a short clip of Cook at work.
