The Pickens 4-H Horse Club will kick off their 3rd year this Saturday. Parents and youth ages 9-19 are invited to the Pickens County Extension office Saturday August 25th 10 a.m.-11 a.m. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the club and sign up.
The horse club is active August- May and cost $25.
Members are not required to own or ride a horse. The club will consist of a drill team, show team, quiz bowl team and horse judging team. Or members can just enjoy attending clinics, meetings, biannual shows, community service events and fundraisers.
Our goal is to teach Pickens youth about the equine industry, health and science. In this process we build leadership skills and encourage community involvement.
If you are interested in joining but, are unable to attend kick off meeting, call the Extension office at (706)253-8840. Drill team try outs will be held September 8th at 11 a.m. Call Vickie Crowe at (678)865-6585 for details.
