Mr. Carson Payne, age 79 of Talking Rock, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Sunshine Manor Assisted Living in Jasper.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Bud and Brandy Payne, Talking Rock; daughters and son-in-law, Lisa and Will Adams and Nancy Grizzle, all of Talking Rock; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Betty Payne and Charlie Payne, all of Turtletown, Tn., Willis and Alice Payne, Jasper, and Virgil and Betty Payne, Florida; sister, Evelyn Herndon, Talking Rock; and grandchildren; Hanna and Haley Payne, Chris Cheshire and Gary Simmons. Several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 9, at Town Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Coy Richards and Tim Hyde officiating. Interment followed directly after in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Chris Cheshire, Gary Simmons, Danny Canrell, Bob Wheeler, David Godfrey and Grady Russell. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Payne family.
Mr. Jimmy Sewell, age 66 of Jasper, passed away Saturday Aug. 11, 2012, at his residence.
Survived include his wife, Mildred Sewell, Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Jay Sewell, Columbus, Ga., Tim Sewell and Jennifer Cole and Scrapper Sewell and Pam Martin, all of Jasper; step-daughters and step-sons-in-law, Selina and Rick Hales and Stacey and Jackie McClure, all of Jasper; brothers, Gerald Sewell, Gadsen Al., and George Sewell, Dallas, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Tom Griffin, Columbus, Ga.; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diane and Jack Green, Jasper Thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ethel Sewell; brothers, Jack, W.J., Billy, Randy, Rudy, Willie Mark; and sister, Barbara Ann Sewell.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 13, from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Daryl Bailey, Jeremy Mullinax and Jack Green officiating. Interment followed directly after in Sharp Top Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Scrapper Sewell, Zeb McAllister, Donnie Craig, Jackie McClure, Rick Hales and Tony Golden. Honorary pallbearers were: Will and Ronnie Sewell and Larry Lanton. The family did accept flowers but prefer donations be made to Cagle Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
Mrs. Therese Driscoll, age 79 of Big Canoe, Jasper, Ga., passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Kimberly Driscoll,Cumming, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Keith Keeney, Alpharetta, Ga.; sisters, Patricia Lafond, Wisconsin, and Virginia Davis, Arizona and grandchildren, Alana and Tara Driscoll and Erin and Emma Keeney. Mrs. Driscoll was preceded in death by her husband, John Driscoll; and daughter, Colleen Ann Driscoll.
Mrs. Driscoll’s memorial service will take place on Friday, August 17, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, 1908 Waleska Hwy. 108, Jasper, Ga. 30143, with Father Byrd celebrating the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in the memory of Therese Driscoll to Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, the St. Brendan’s Catholic Church Music Ministry, 4633 Shiloh Road, Cumming, Ga 30043, or Reinhardt School of Music, Attn: Erin Honea, 7300 Reinhardt Circle, Waleska, Ga. 30183.
