Mrs. Margaret B. Hargraves, “Marnie,” age 90 of Canton, formerly of Dunedin, Fl., passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Heritage Hospice.
Mrs. Hargraves was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hargraves; and a son, Ralph Hargraves.
Survivors include her daughter, Faye DeLong (Ernie), Jacksonville, Fl.; sons, John Hargraves (Maureen), Fairmount, Ga., William Hargraves (Janice), Canton, Ga., and Richard Hargraves (Diane), Palm Harbor, Fl; and daughter-in-law, Jo An Hargraves, Canton, Ga. Thirteen grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great- great-grandchild also survives.
Mrs. Hargraves will be cremated and the family will have a memorial service at a later date.
Mrs. Elizabeth Holbert Forrester, age 81 of Canton, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012, at Kennestone Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Garland Holbert and Lemma Hammontree Holbert. Survivors include her husband, Teddy Forrester; children, Bob (Nancy) Davis, Kathy (Darrell) Stephens, Becky DeGraff, George (Susan) Davis and Gus Welborn; sister, Mary Brenda Pendley; and brothers-in-law, Jerry (Bobbie) Forrester and Anthony Forrester. Fifteen grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ken May officiating. Interment followed in Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery in Jasper. Mrs. Peggy Woolwine Hessmann passed away at her home on June 25, 2012, with her loving husband Dave nearby. Peggy was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Bristol, Tn., to Mac and Pearl Woolwine. She graduated from Tennessee High School in Bristol, Tn., and Sullins College in Bristol, Va. Known for her stellar voice, Peggy sang in many places around Bristol.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 50 years, David Hessmann; daughter, Kim Hessmann Walker and husband Sam; daughter, Jane Hessmann; granddaughters, Dana and Melinda Russell, all living in Georgia; niece, Laura Woolwine-Maden of Bristol, Tn.; nephews, Phil Woolwine and Kirk Woolwine; and cousin, LuAnn Woolwine Crockett and husband Claude H. Crockett, Jr., MD, of Bristol, Va.
At her request, Mrs. Hessmann was cremated. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 14, at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home in Jasper, Ga., with the Rev. Von Hinton officiating. The family will receive friends from 12- 1 prior to the service.
Ms. Rosanne Smith, age 58 of Canton, Ga. passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Wellstar Hospice of Kennesaw.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Torres, Hawaii, Nicole Dutton, Ellijay, Ga., and Sandra Smith of Canton, Ga.; sisters, Kathleen Masterson, New Jersey, and Delores Kaner, New York; and grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Dutton, both of Ellijay, Ga.
The funeral service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 29, from the Chapel of Roper Funeral with Chaplain Jimmy Bellamy officiating. At her request, Ms. Smith was cremated following her service.
Mrs. Dorothy (Dottie) Murphy, age 60 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her husband, Ron Murphy, Jasper; mother-in-law, Helen Murphy, Nelson; sons and daughter-in-law, Mathew Roberts and Clint and Jill Roberts, all of McDonough, Ga.; daughter, Brandy Roberts, Covington Ga.; brothers, David Bozeman, McDonough, Ga., and Adam Weems, Arizona; sisters, Frances Garmon, Newnan, Ga., Rebecca Weems, Covington, La., Debbie Hamby, Kenner, La., Kathy Searcy, Fayetteville, Ga., and Beth Seale, Brandon, Ms.; and grandchildren; Alexa and Matthew Roberts. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 2, from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Weeks officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Matthew and Clint Roberts, Lawrence Garmon, Dale Odom, Richard Bartholomew and Joey Nicoson.
