The Sharptop Arts Association is inviting the public to their June Open Mic Night, happening Saturday the 23rd.
This month, well-known local performing artist Thelma “Bay” Cagle, a pianist, vocalist and actress, will be featured during the Open Mic event.
Cagle is deeply involved in the arts and music community in the county. Among her many endeavors include teaching music lessons at the Creative and Performing Arts Academy in Jasper, providing musical direction for local plays, including the wildly popular musical ensemble Smoke on the Mountain in which she portrayed Vera Sanders, and many others.
The show begins at 7 p.m. at the arts center on D.B. Carroll Street in Jasper. Cagle will perform for the first half and the second half will be reserved for a traditional open mic.
Performers of all ages and genres are invited to sign up for up to 10 minutes of stage time. Sign up for open mic starts at 6:30 p.m.
At this time SAA is unable to accommodate full bands that include drum kits. Acts must be able to set up and break down quickly.
Sign ups are first come first serve. To be fair to everyone, no signups will be taken before the day of the show. Please keep content PG-13.
Cost is $3 at the door.
Light refreshments will be available.
