Whitestone Farm and Trade, a market that will focus on local and organic farm and gourmet foods, opens this Friday and will hold its Grand Opening celebration through Monday. Above, one of six paintings that were donated to the market stand by artist Tim Gartrell.
If you’re in love with local produce, crafts and other homemade goods and fare, you won’t want to miss out on the Grand Opening celebration of Whitestone Farm and Trade this Memorial Day weekend.
Not only will the four-day celebration include blacksmithing demonstrations, a group mural and other activities suitable for the entire family, but the market area will be open for market-goers to buy, sell and trade homegrown and handmade goodies.
Along with the chemical-free produce cultivated at the farm, Whitestone Farm and Trade, a project of Jasper native Ben Jones, will offer produce and goods from other area farmers and craftsmen.
Jones is the sixth generation in his family to manage the north Pickens farm.
Meats, veggies, grits, and cornmeal will be available from Riverview Farm in Ranger, Ga. Earth Friendly Farm of Ellijay will be on-site selling eggs, honey, mushrooms and more, and there will be produce and other goods from Harvest Moon farm in Gilmer County.
Whitestone Farm and Trade will also sell gourmet chocolates, coffee, and sea salts.
The market will be open Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
