Mr. Freddie E. DeFoor, age 66 of Clermont, Ga., passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012.
Mr. DeFoor was a native of Tampa, Fl., but has lived in the Gainesville area for the past 25 years. He was born on Nov. 24, 1943, and was the son of the late Hewlett Efton DeFoor and Ruthelle Yvonne (Shirley) DeFoor. He was in auto sales. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark DeFoor.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn (Dixon) DeFoor, Clermont; daughter, Detra DeFoor, Cumming; sons, Brian DeFoor of Dallas, Ga., and Monte DeFoor of Clayton, Ga.; and daughters, Dia DeFoor, Penscola, Fl., and Marquietta Brown and Sherry Sipsy, both of Dallas, Ga. Fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.
Mr. Brian John Russell, age 52 of Ellijay, Ga., and formerly of Jasper, Ga., died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta, Ga., following a period of declining health.
Born Feb. 25, 1960, in Waterbury, Ct., Mr. Russell worked as the Receiving Manager for Town and Country Furniture in Blue Ridge, Ga. He was a member of the Jasper United Methodist Church in Jasper where he enjoyed participating in the choir.
Survivors include his daughter, Alex Russell, Ellijay; son, Parker Russell, Scottsdale, Ga.; parents, John and Jean Russell, Canton, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Brian Dunson, Canton, Ga.; and brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Kim Russell, Auburn, Ga. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
A Celebration of Life service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 7, from Roper Funeral Home Chapel located at 206 Holley Street, Jasper. The Rev. Chip Wilson officiated. A Mass will was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Saint Philip Benizi Catholic Church, 591 Flint River Road, Jonesboro, Ga 30238. Father John Koziol conducted the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to support the college education of Mr. Russell’s daughter. Funds should be made payable to Alexandra Russell and mailed in care of Chase Bank GA2-0089, 6782 Hickory Flat Hwy., Canton, Ga. 30115.
Mr. Randall Lamar Hampton, age 48 of Nelson, Ga., died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Born May 23, 1963, in Pickens County, he was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Luvina Green Hampton. Mr. Hampton had worked as a cook and cashier with Wendy’s in Canton, Ga., and was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his father, Rev. Leo Hampton, Nelson; sisters, Sarah Diane Hampton, Douglasville, Ga., and Emily Marcia Hampton, Jasper; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo Alan Hampton, Gwinnett County, Bobby Mitchell and Shirley Hampton, Cleveland, N.C., Gregory Scott Hampton and David Alexander and Doris Hampton, all of Nelson, and Carlos Deonn and Shanda Hampton, Jasper, Ga.; Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, with the remains placed in state at the church at 1 p.m. The Rev. Charles D. Morgan officiated with interment in the Lake Forest Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donation be made to the Mt.
