Mr. Tony “Meat” Grant, age 47 of Canton, Ga., passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Ga.
Survivors include his wife: Donna Grant, Canton; father and mother, Charles and Jackie Grant, Jasper; mother-in-law, Bettye Ledbetter; son and daughter-in-Law: Cody and Emily Grant, Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Jason Satterfield, Jasper; step-daughter, Darla Edge, Canton sister and brother-in-law, Niki and Cory Eubanks, Jasper; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pearl and Jeff Stancil, Nelson; brother-in-law: Vick Ledbetter, Canton; grandparents, Agnes and Clarence Jones, Talking Rock, and Lorine Ingram, Jasper; grandchildren, Grant Satterfield and Addyson Grant; nieces, Kayla Eubanks and Valerie and Vanessa Stancil; and nephew, Clark Stancil.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Autrey Dean and Ricky Jarrett officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Doug Patterson, Craig Hammontree, Steve Crowe, Jason Satterfield, Cory Eubanks, Clark Stancil, Marc Boehm and Chuck Clayton.
Mr. Charles Pittman, age 66 of Jasper, Ga., passed at his residence Monday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Pittman, Jasper; sons, Charles Pittman, Jr., Jasper, Billy Pittman, North Carolina, Jeff Hawkins and Mike Smith, both of Jasper; daughters, Candy Pittman Lunsford, Columbus, Ga., Tracey Pittman, North Carolina, Elaine Hawkins, Jasper, and Tina Painter, Dunwoody; brothers, Larry Pittman Mangum and Robert Butch Pittman, both of Jasper; and sisters, Kathy Young, Adairsville, and Anna Belle Trudeau, Jasper. Ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 12, at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Jarrett officiating. Interment followed in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Jimmy and Austin Hunt, Jacob King, Tommy Hunt, Larry Mangum and Timothy Lunsford serving as pallbearers. The family did accept flowers; however those who desire may make memorials to Cagle Funeral Home to assist with the funeral expenses.
Mr. Doug Childers, age 51 of Jasper, Ga., passed at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital Tuesday evening, Jan. 10, 2012.
Survivors include his parents, Horace and Bettie Childres, Jasper; grandmother, Mary Gibson, Jerusalem Community; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dwight and Debra Childres and Roger and Lorie Childres, all of Jasper; nieces, Mary Jo and Lane Childres; and nephew, Dylan Childres. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. from Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Revs. James Thompson and Harold Cantrell officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Tim Stancil, Teddy Duncan, Mark and Scott Childers, Jimmy Gleason and Tony Aaron serving as pallbearers. Lila Blackwell Johnson, age 86, passed Jan. 12, 2012, at Covenant Hospice, Pensacola, Fl. She was born May 2,1925, in Marble Hill, Ga., the eldest of 10 children to the Late William C. and Callie Blackwell.
Survivors include her son, Raymond Johnson, Pensacola; daughters and sons-in-law, Mona and Bill Porter, Tallahassee, Fl., and Debbie and Paul Sachetti, Atlanta; brothers and sisters-in-law, William C. and Frances Blackwell and Jack and Velma Blackwell, all of Jasper, Joe and Darlene Blackwell, Alabama, Jerry and Brenda Blackwell and Roy and Gail Blackwell, all of Jasper; sisters, Sue Tatum, Canton, Joyce Davis, Omaha, Ne., and Patricia Blackwell, Ft. Myers, Fl.; and sister-in-law, Faye Blackwell, Ball Ground. Five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Johnson; and brother, James E. Blackwell.
The funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. from Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Huey Holloway officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery with the nephews serving as pallbearers. Miss Dot Whitfield, age 85 of Jasper, Ga., passed at her residence Saturday morning, Jan. 14, 2012.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, Rev. Von Hinton, Jasper; and nieces and nephews, Miss Whitfield was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lila Little Whitfield; brother, Mark Whitfield; and sister, Ruth Hinton.
A graveside service was held Sunday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Omega Hospice Chaplain David Lewis and Rev. Ben Mock officiating. The Family requests that memorials be made to Omega Hospice, 27 Maple Ridge Road, Ste. A, Cartersville,

Mrs. Pearl Dupree, age 77 of Jasper, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at her residence.
She is preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Dupree; and children, Rebecca Lynn Dupree, Joyce Smith and Tommy Dupree. She is survived by her children, Barbara Leggett, Florida, Dianne Barnes, Ellijay, Jimmy Dupree, Jasper and Joanne Chivington, Ellijay; and siblings, Madgline Ryan and Billy Weaver both of Florida, and Pauline Rolls, Jasper; 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Gus Smith, Ball Ground; and a special friend, Alma Mulkey, Jasper.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Bobby McFarland and Gus Smith officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Joseph Goble, III
Mr. Joseph Goble, III, age 55 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed Sunday afternoon, Jan. 15, 2012, at North Georgia Medical Center, Ellijay, Ga.
Mr Goble had attended the University of Georgia, was a graduate of Georgia College with a Bachelor’s degree and was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Goble, Talking Rock; parents, Joseph and Roxilea Goble, Gainesville,Ga.; step-daughter and husband, Misty and David Kirkland, Rome, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Henry G. Goble and Ann, Gainesville, Ga.; sister, Roxann Manley, Hull, Ga.; and grandson, Blake Puckett. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home. The family will begin receiving friends at 1 p.m. at the funeral home Saturday afternoon prior to the services. Pastor Jered Latham will officiate. Mr. Lanier Poole, age 67 of Jasper, Ga., died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, following a brief illness.
Born August 21, 1944, in Gilmer County, Ga., he was the son of the late Dolphus S. and Rora Mae Moss Poole. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Leo and Bob Poole. Lanier had last worked at Royston and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Wingard Poole, Jasper, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Jody and Katie Poole, Jasper, Ga., Brian and Candace Poole, Talking Rock, Ga.; grandchildren, Jordan, Logan and Megan Poole, all of Jasper, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois Poole, Jasper, Ga., Cora Belle Chastain, Gainesville, Ga., Betty and Ray Ferrell and Hazel and Wallace Mullinax, all of Jasper, Ga.; and brother, Charles B. Poole, Jasper, Ga. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jess Posey and Tim Hyde officiating. Interment followed in Lake Forest Memorial Park. Those serving as pallbearers were: Mr. Greg Moss, Mr. Junior Brannon, Mr. Donnie Reynolds, Mr. Joel Collis, Mr. Chris Huston and Mr. Joey Jones. Those serving as honorary pallbearers were: Mr. Tom McTaggart, Mr. Bill Gilleland, Mr. Harold McDaniel, Mr. Ronnie Weaver, Mr. Glenn Watson, Mr. Jordan Poole, Mr. Johnny Herndon and Mr. Logan Poole.
