Mr. David Boyd “Toddy” Parker, age 75 of Jasper, Ga., died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born August 28, 1936, in Pickens County, he was the son of the late William Lee Parker and Stella Mae Clark Parker. He was also preceded in death by sons, David Parker, Jr. and Talmadge Lee Parker; sisters, Phebie Vancott and Dorothy Dameron; and brother, Bill Parker.
Mr. Parker was a truck driver with the J.P. Haynes Lumber Company in Canton, Ga., and was a member of the Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Parker, Jasper; daughters, Joyce Swanson, Acworth, Ga., Nancy Parker, Woodstock, Ga., Janice Hamby, Acworth, Ga., and Jennifer Parker, Murphy, N.C.; sons, Jason Parker, Murphy, N.C., Randy Parker, Ellijay, Ga., and Richard Parker, Jasper; sisters, Alma Bryant and Sue Parris, both of Jasper, Louise Hood, Dallas, Ga., and Ann Ethridge, Riverdale, Ga.; and brothers, Paul Parker, Dahlonega, Ga., Bobby Charles Parker, Riverdale, Ga. Ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, from Yellow Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Gary Poole and William Blackwell officiating. Interment followed in Yellow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements and services entrusted to Roper Funeral Home and Crematory of Jasper.
Mr. Joseph Steven Ward, age 59, of Jasper, Ga., died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at his residence following a sudden illness.
Born March 31, 1952, in Atlanta, Ga., he was the son of the late Joseph Scott Ward and Margaret Breedlove Ward. Mr. Ward had previously worked as a brick mason.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Christy Buice and Deanne and Tommy Hitchcock, all of Dawsonville, Ga., and Amanda Ward, Cumming, Ga.; sisters, Kay Ward, Hampton, Ga., and Melissa Carden, Cleveland, Tn..; and brothers, David Ward, Dublin, Ga., Wendall Breedlove, Woodstock, Ga., and Ricky Breedlove, Atlanta, Ga. Seven grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Visitation was held from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Roper Funeral Home. At his request, Mr. Ward was cremated following the visitation.
Mrs Mary Jewell Fountain, age 88 of Jasper, Ga., passed Friday evening, Nov. 25, 2011, at Heritage Health Care, Jasper.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Kathryn Fountain, Marble Hill, and Donald and Helen Fountain, Jasper; and daughter and son-in-law, Shelby Walker and Richard Wofford, Jasper. Twelve grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Moss Fountain, Gus Smith and Sanford Fountain officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Ben and Donald Patrick Fountain, Allen Morgan, Forrest Blanton, Richard Wofford and Johnny Merrel serving as active pallbearers and Tyler Rhodes and James Morgan serving as honorary pallbearers.

Jack Neal Callahan, age 82, of Calhoun, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Nov. 21, at his residence.
Jack was born March 17, 1929 in Tate, Ga., the son of the late Carter and Carmen Fitz Callahan. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Belmont Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member and Past-Exalted Ruler of the Calhoun Elks Lodge.
Jack was a avid golfer and sportsman. His abilities on the baseball field and the basketball court was widely known. But the love of his life was his wife, Dorothy Dean Callahan to whom he was married on Friday April 13, 1951, and preceded him in death in December 2003. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dean Callahan.
Survivors include his four daughters, Debbie, Dee Dee Thompson and her husband Johnny, Donna Dobson, and Jackie Moore and her husband Allen, all of Calhoun; sister, Patsy Stewart and her husband Bobby, Douglasville; and grandchildren, Jaie Evans, Carmen Reid Schaumburg and her husband Robert, Chris Callahan, Brittany Reid, Dylan Thompson, Callie Dobson and Jaxon Moore.
The funeral service was conducted Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. from the Belmont Baptist Church with Dr. Bert Vaughn and the Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Burial followed in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers included: Jaie Evans, Robert Schaumburg, Brent Anderson, Dylan Thompson, Jazz Gregoire and Chris Hicks. Honorary escorts were members of the Calhoun Elks Lodge and the Calhoun Elketts. Donation can be made to The Elks Aidmore Home at 2394 Morrison Road, Conyers, Ga., 30094. Thomas Funeral Home was charge of the arrangements.
