Norma Jean Tyson
Miss Norma Jean Tyson, age 71 of Talking Rock, Ga., departed this life Sunday evening, Sept. 11, 2011 at Morning Pointe Assisted-Living Center surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born March 30, 1940, in Anniston, Al. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Thelma Saxon Tyson. She was a journalist for the Atlanta Journal- Constitution. Jean was a member of the Mt. Light Unitarian Universalist and a member of the Twin Mtn. Lakes Club.
She is survived by her partner, Donna Waddell; brother and sister-in-law, William and Nancy Tyson, Anniston; nephew, Michael Tyson; great- niece and nephew, Mathew and Anna Tyson.
A memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Dorothy Chastain Payne, age 79 of Jasper, Ga., died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Grandview Health Care Center in Jasper following a period of declining health.
Born May 12, 1932, in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late E.L. and Hettie Jane Lowery Robinson. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Emory Chastain and Ralph Monroe Payne.
Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Cherokee County.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine Frady, Ellijay, Ga., Charlene and Charles Miess and Earlene and Edwin Wigington, all of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Wanda Chastain, Jasper; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Gladys and Grady Cagle and Mae Mosley, all of Jasper; and brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Glyndon Robinson, Jasper. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Grady Cagle, LeRoy Kelley and Johnny Barnes officiating. Interment followed in Hinton Community Cemetery. The family did accept flowers; however, donations may be made to the Hinton Community Cemetery, c/o of Mr. Johnny Barnes, 8475 Hwy. 53 W, Jasper, Ga. 30143
Mr. Claude William Hawk, age 79 of Jasper, Ga., and formerly of Albany, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born March 9, 1932, in Morgan County, Ga., he was the son of the late Leon and Eunice Whitley Hawk. Mr. Hawk was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Hawk; sisters, Louise Fambrough, Sue Pearson and Carol Latimer; brothers, Robert Lee Hawk and Benny Leon Hawk.
Mr. Hawk was retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force after 21 years of service and also had retired after 20 years with the United States Postal Service. Mr. Hawk was a charter member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Albany where he served as a Deacon and Minister of Music.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Carol Joyce Hawk, Jasper; daughter, Brenda K. Putnam, Acworth, Ga.; son, William Scott Hawk, Wetumpka, Al.; grandchildren, Amanda Ledford, Jasper, Bryan Hawk, Cedar Bluff, Al., and Craig Wynn, Decatur, Al.; and sister, Mrs. Mary Daniel, Rutledge, Ga.; Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at noon Monday, Oct. 3, from Liberty Baptist Church in Albany with the remains placed in state at the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charlie Rouse officiating. Interment followed in Floral Memory Gardens in Albany with military graveside rites by the United States Air Force. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bruce Muse, age 85 of Jasper, Ga., passed Friday morning, Sept. 30, 2011, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Ann Muse, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Ed Nelson, Marietta, Ga., Wendy and Ed Evans, Seneca, S.C., and Carolina and Nancy and Bob Fullerton, Alpharetta, Ga.; sisters, Susan Mount, Carrollton, Ga., Zelda Neill, Smyrna, Ga., and Teresa Sutton, Waleska, Ga.; and grandchildren, Stacy and Julie Nelson, Warren, Walker and Elizabeth Evans and Caroline and Steven Fullerton.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, from Jasper First Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Lewis officiating. Interment followed in Lake Forest Memorial Park in Jasper with local Chapter 47 DAV in charge of military rites. Pallbearers were: Ed Nelson, Ed, Warren and Walker Evans and Bob and Steven Fullerton. Giddeon Sunday School class was honorary pallbearers. The family did accept flowers or memorials may be made to Jasper First Baptist Church. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Karen Jones Tomlinson, age 64 of Jasper, Ga., and formerly of Daytona Beach, Fl., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga., following a period of declining health.
Born May 12, 1947, in Daytona Beach, she was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Jones. Mrs. Tomlinson had worked as a store trainer with Publix grocery store and was a member of the True Life Church in Ball Ground, Ga.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Wayne Tomlinson, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Mike Walker, Ball Ground; grandchildren, Lexie Ladwig and Brandon, Amber and Braxton Walker; mother, Mrs. Emma Mae Jones, Ormand Beach, Fl.; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Peter Giroux, Chardin, Oh.; and brother, Bob Jones, Ormand Beach. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Steward officiating. Cremation followed the service on Saturday.
