Students in various Agriculture and Horticulture classes at PHS have been busy the last couple of months preparing the Greenhouse at Pickens High School for the spring planting season. The students stay busy throughout the year, transplanting, fertilizing and watering the plants which, for some, may take as long as six months to reach a size that is ready for sale. While the students work in the greenhouse, they are applying what they have been learning in the classroom. The greenhouse activities tend to be great motivators for the students.
This year, the annual Spring Plant Sale will begin on Thursday, April 14th. The Greenhouse will be open each day on the 14th and 15th,from 2- 5 for plant purchases. We are changing the location this year from the greenhouse to the PHS Agricenter next door to the greenhouse. The move should give much more room to browse and purchase the plants. We will have students available to help with your purchases and loading. If possible, we ask that you pay by check, made payable to PHS, to help with our record keeping.
If you need further information you can call Joe Wright at 770/893-8772. The Agriculture Education Program looks forward to seeing you, starting April 14th to help assist you with your spring gardening needs.
