Members of the Pickens High School Reading Bowl team walked away winners in regional competition Saturday, taking first place in the high school division. PHS moves ahead to district competition in Henry County February 27.
Members of the PHS Reading Bowl who competed Saturday are Jonathan Eldridge, Raleigh Godwin, Dovie Greene, Sawyer Henderson, Jenny Ing, Michael Land, and Kelley Tidwell. Other team members present included: Jessica Bradley, Tessla Gipson, Katie Green, Amanda Rogers and Brittany Klock. Sharon Rasco is team coach.
PHS had a score of 370, beating out their closest competitor by 60 points.
Jasper Middle School won third place in the middle school competition and Harmony Elementary placed third in the elementary contest.
Members of the JMS team are: Erin DeBord, Corbin Allen, Kaylee Cash, Andrew Haygood, Blake Wilson, Christopher Densmore, Hannah Kilpatrick, Kayla Low, Ginny Morris, Peyton Patterson, Bailey Smith. Coach – Sherry Carter.
Harmony Elementary team members are: Nina Dykes, Max Hagedorn, Alice Kirby, Adam Massey, Emily McNair, Abigale Montgomery, Dalton Sipsy, Kaycee Walker. Their coaches are Tammy Boggus and Susan Anderson.
