Workers at dusk Tuesday clear Cove Road of debris in the S-curves. The debris covered the concrete barriers put up after a similar slide several years ago. No word of the time the road will remain closed was available Wednesday morning. Safety concerns more than debris removal was forcing city of Jasper officials to require motorists use detours through Grandview Road. Just after 1 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon the City of Jasper made the following statement on their Facebook page: "City Officials have met with a Geostabilization Engineer this morning to conduct a preliminary assessment of the situation on Cove Road.
The engineer will be conferring with their counterparts to provide an evaluation to City Officials so that a determination can be made on what measures to take to mitigate further issues that could occur. The unknown elements of the situation necessitates that the road remain closed until further notice."
