Local attorney's great-grandfather featured in new book

This photo of the Rev. Thaddeus Pickett was taken around the early 1900s. Pickett’s granddaughter has written a historical novel featuring him and Jasper.

Much of the new book, Never Isn’t Long Enough, by F. Diane Pickett is set in Jasper and features several chapters about her grandfather, the Reverend Thaddeus Pickett. Pickett is the great-grandfather of local attorney Bill Pickett.

The author will be on hand Saturday, April 12th from 1-4 p.m. at the Woodbridge Inn for a book signing.
Never Isn’t Long Enough is set in the South, much of it in Jasper, and is a work of historic fiction. But, the author said, there are several chapters about her grandfather, Rev. Pickett, and she also touches on the Trail of Tears, the marble industry, and the hardships of farm life as well as circuit riding preachers.
Called a “fun read of wicked Southern tales”, the book takes a new look at the Old South and its fascinating people. Written from a historical perspective, it follows thawed and flaming characters as they race through pages of sparkling wit, drama, tragedy and conflict.
    F. Diane Pickett was born in Atlanta and grew up in Northwest Florida. Her vision and leadership inspired the revival of the historical Florida Chautauqua Assembly in DeFunkiak Springs, Florida.
