Marjorie Fields, age 85 of St. Marys, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at St. Marys Convalescent Center.
She was born Sept. 15, 1923 in Mascot, Tn. to the late Grady and Stella Trammel Arrendale. She had resided in Camden County for the past 25 years, was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include sons, P.J. Fields (Lisa), St. Marys, and Larry Fields, Oregon; daughters, Kay Dooner and Connie Sylvia, both of California; brothers, Jack Arrendale, Ball Ground, and Gene Arrendale, Corpus Christi, Tx. Thirteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 30 at Mission City Memorial Park in Santa Clara, Ca. Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. George Farris Stone, age 69 of Ranger, Ga., passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome following an extended illness. He was born in Pickens County, Ga. on Feb. 23, 1940, son of the late Onice and Julie Young Stone. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Neal (N.A.) Stone.
Mr. Stone was employed as a truck driver during his lifetime, and was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Joan Wren Stone; sons, Dennis Wiley, Calhoun, and Charles Wesley Wiley, Hasting, Ne.; daughters, Deborah Lorraine Neece, Doraville, Donna Marie Wiley and her companion Terry Garcia, Chatsworth, and Darlene Yvette Grauer and her husband Mike, Columbia, Tn.; brothers, Howard Stone, Bostwick, Ga., Buford Stone, Anderson, S.C., Mose Edward Stone, Madison, Ga., D.W. Stone, Bostwick, B.H. Stone, Lawrenceville, Ga., and Butch Stone, Bostwick; and sisters, Mamie Lee Peppers, Bostwick, Gloria Jean Angel and Louise Angel, both of Bishop, Myrtleann Broach, Bostwick, and Dolly Henson, Bishop. Five grandchildren, Trevor Beaupre, Chadwick Wiley, Sean and Ashley Neece and Brooke Wiley; a great-grandchild, Shelby Wiley; two aunts, Mettie Hendrix of Ranger and Gannell Mulkey of Jasper, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was conducted Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment followed in the Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Greg Fieldin, Devry, Timmy and Manuel Swinney, D.J. Cunningham and David Schnitz. Brothers served as honorary pallbearers.
Olga Lilian Schultz (Nee Degen) passed from her earthly life Friday, April 24, 2009 in the Gilmer Nursing Home. She had been a resident there for the past several years and was extremely grateful for the loving and professional care received. She was also lovingly cared for by Georgia Mountains Hospice in recent months.
Mrs. Schultz was bron in Philadelphia, Pa. on Dec. 25, 1923 to the late John F. and Natalie Burgemeister Degen, both immigrants from Germany. She was a homemaker most of her life and, although baptized and confirmed in the German Evangelical Lutheran faith, most recently was associated with the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family in Jasper, Ga.
Mrs. Schultz was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; her husband, Al Schultz, Sr., former Justice of the Peace in Banks County, Pa.; and their only child, Albert Schultz. She is survived by no family members, but does leave behind her dear and long-time friends, Larry Jones and Jack Watkins of Ellijay, Ga., and other loved ones both in Ellijay and in the Philadelphia area.
A memorial service and Holy Eucharist, officiated by the Rev. Mary P. Johnson of Holy Family, will be held at the Gilmer Nursing Home, 1366 S Main St., Ellijay, Ga., on Tuesday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. All friends, nursing home and Hospice staff are warmly welcomed to participate in Olga?s continuing journey. The Liturgy of Committal for Olga?s ashes will be held at a later date in the Memorial Garden of the church in Jasper. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family (General Fund), 202 Griffith Road, Jasper, Ga. 30143 and/or Georgia Mountains Hospice, 70 Caring Way, Jasper, Ga. 30143.
