Michael “Lee” Caylor

July 19, 1980 –May 3, 2019

 

Michael “Lee” Caylor, 38, of Jasper, GA passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. Lee was born July 19, 1980 in Jasper, GA to Stephen Michael Caylor and Shirley Dianne Simonds.

Lee is survived by his wife, Nissa Caylor, of Colorado; children, Alex Caylor, Josie Caylor, and Olivia Caylor, all of Colorado; mother, Dianne Simonds, of Nelson; father, Michael Caylor, of Jasper; step-father, Gene Wright, of Jasper; sisters, Stephanie Newman, of Alabama, Lisa Caylor, of Pennsylvania, Melissa Wofford, of Jasper; brother Jacob Caylor, of Jasper; grandparents, Arthur Lee and Thelma Simonds, of Jasper; several other family and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019 in the Roper Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Lake Forest Memorial Park.

The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Lee Caylor Memorial Fund in care of Roper Funeral Home.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory of Jasper.

Gerald Childers

September 21, 1969 - April 26, 2019

 

Mr. Gerald (Buffy) Scott Childers, 49, of Jasper, passed away April 26, 2019 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

Gerald (Buffy) is survived by his mother, Barbara Jean Childers of Jasper; two step-sons, Artie Rozzelle of Jasper and James Rozzelle of Carrolton; one step-daughter, Misty Rozzelle of Carrolton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Jane Childers of Fairmount; David and Vivian Childers of Ludville and Lamar and Kerri Childers of Hill City Community; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby & David Helton of Gurley, Al; sisters, Lisha McClure of Hinton and Michelle Evans and fiancé Robert Wishon of Ellijay; five step-grandsons, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., April 29, 2019 in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bobby Timms and Rev. Chris Pack officiating.

Pallbearers: Robert Wishon, Austin Padgett, Mitchell Wilson, Chris Wilson, Cody Wilson, James (Bub) Long, Raymond Carlile and Jamie (Dexter) Carlile.

Internment was at Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. 

The family accepted flowers but prefer donations be made to Cagle Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Len Hill

 

Lenwood George (Len) Hill, 80, died at dawn on Saturday, April 27, 2019 after a long illness, surrounded by his family.

A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Len was born in Westfield, Massachusetts and spent his youth in Brimfield, Massachusetts where he graduated from high school. He then joined the Massachusetts Army National Guard and served for several years.  Len was a graduate of Central Connecticut State College and had a 35-year career with Pratt & Whitney, retiring from Customer Service as a Senior Technical Writer.

He married the love of his life, Marion, and lived for many years in Vernon, Connecticut where they raised their two children.  They later moved to Jupiter, Florida where he developed a passion for golf and a love of that beautiful state.  Len was a strong Christian and a willing volunteer always and served in many leadership roles over the years.  He was also actively involved in the activities of his children and grandchildren, and was their most faithful fan.

Len and his wife have lived in Jasper, Georgia since 2008 in order to be closer to family.  Here in Bent Tree, Len was able to expand his love of golf and played multiple times weekly for as long as he was able.  He was also a master woodworker who designed and built beautiful pieces of furniture as well as many gifts for friends and family.  He loved music and was most comfortable with a guitar in his hands and a harmonica around his neck.  He had a positive attitude and a generous heart and loved to be around his friends and family.

Len was preceded in death by his parents, Vernard and Dora Hill.  He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Marion (Healy) Hill; daughter, Pamela Fuchs (Peter Lokuta) of Canton; son, Steven Hill (Stacy) of Canton; grandchildren, Savannah, Casey and Bradley Fuchs; a sister, Louise Asarisi of Connecticut; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herbert and Sheila Healy of New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Roper Funeral Home and a memorial service on Friday, May 10 at 3 p.m. at Jasper United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Len's Life to follow at Club Tamarack in Bent Tree.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bent Tree Foundation; Bent Tree Golf Course Beautification; 744 Noah Drive, Suite 113-184; Jasper, Georgia  30143.

Ruby Brooks

November 10, 1922 - April 30, 2019

 

Mrs. Ruby Brooks, 96, of Ball Ground, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Wildwood Nursing Center.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Patsy Brooks of Sutallee Place, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Kennie Childers of Ball Ground; sister, Willie Grace Brooks of Marble Hill; granddaughters, Felicia (Tyler) Tinsley, Elise Brooks and Elizabeth Knight; grandson, Tyler Childers.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, W.D. Brooks and son, Jack Brooks.

Funeral services were  held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019 in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Huey Holloway and Rev. Richie Gibbs officiating.

Pallbearers: Tyler Childers, Tyler Tinsley, Kennie Childers, Keven McTaggart, Donnie Fowler and Randell Brooks.

Honorary Pallbearers: Mike Young, Randy Whaley, Gene Ray, Zach Kent, Austin Kent and Keaton Kent.

Interment was at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.

The family received flowers or donate to Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery fund.

Sue Setser

June 21, 1947 - May 3, 2019

 

Mrs. Sue Setser, 71, of Jasper passed away Friday May 3, 2019.

Mrs. Setser is survived by her husband, James R. Setser of Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Cammy and Johnny Cochran of Ellijay; Christi and Doug Clark of Hinton Community; sisters, Carolyn Gilbert of Lake City, TN and Pat Phillips of Lake City, TN; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Setser is preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Cain.

The funeral was held Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home. Rev. Eddie Kerr and Rev. Rex Kilpatrick, officiating.

 Gregory Muenker

August 3, 1955 - April 30, 2019

 

Mr. Gregory Wilson Muenker, 63, passed away April 30, 2019, at his residence in Jasper.

Greg is survived by his wife, Catherine Jorden of Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Muenker and Latasha Buchanan of Jasper and David and Michelle Jorden of Jasper; son, Anthony Cox of Jasper; daughter, Paula Watson of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Sissy and Ronnie Hinklin of Oklahoma; brothers, Jeff Muenker of Texas and David Muenker of Colorado; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside service was Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 9 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Cherokee County with local Chapter 47 DAV in charge of Military Rites.

Fred Ponder

    Mr. Fred Clenton Ponder, 79, of Tate, GA passed on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, GA. 

Born April 11th, 1940 to his late parents J.S. & Iola (White) Ponder in Ellijay, GA. Fred was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for 62 years and the Blaine Masonic Lodge #534 F&AM for 54 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.S. & Iola Ponder and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene Godfrey and Sharlene Ponder.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Hagin, Rev. Roger Burgess and Rev. Brondy Davis officiating. Music and singing by the Clayton Family and Mrs. Kayla Easley. Graveside interment followed in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with Randy Ponder, Brent Ponder, Jake Ponder, Chris Crump, Freddy Vick and Jason Williams serving as pallbearers, honorary pallbearers were James Morris and T.O. Carroll.

Mr. Ponder is survived by his wife of 12 years, Ruby Ryder Ponder of Tate, GA; son, Danny Ryder of Tate, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Vera and Clyde Beal, Patsy Godfrey and brother, Randall Ponder, all of Ellijay, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers were accepted or donations may be made to the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery fund in care of Randy Ponder at 156 Mt. Pisgah Drive Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mr. Ponder. Jerry Buchanan

November 10, 1955 - May 5, 2019

 

Mr. Jerry R. 'JJ' Buchanan, 63, of Talking Rock, passed away May 5, 2019 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Mr. Buchanan is survived by his mother, Lona Mae Stamey Buchanan of Marble Hill; mother of his children, Linda Waters of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Shannon Buchanan of Talking Rock; daughter, Mary Ann Buchanan of Marble Hill; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Holly Buchanan of Marble Hill; sister, Janice Taylor of Marble Hill; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Roger Emory of Talking Rock, Lisa and David Amos of Marble Hill; grandson, Jason Buchanan. Several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends also survive.

 

The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, May 8, from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Thursday, May 9, 8 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers: Joey, Mack, Bo, Randy, Davenport and Brad.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Four Mile Baptist Church, Rev. Aaron Adams and Rev. Curtis Roland officiating.

Interment will be at Four Mile Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.

Cheylynn Rainstorm Richards

March 1, 2019 – May 4, 2019

 

Infant Cheylynn Rainstorm Richards, age 2 months of Blue Ridge, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Advent Health Care in Calhoun. Cheylynn was born March 1, 2019 in Jasper, GA to Bryson Richards and Savannah Baldwin.

She is survived by her parents, Bryson Richards and Savannah Baldwin, of Blue Ridge; grandparents, Adam and Trina Richards, of Jasper, Steven and Deidrea Lucas, of Blue Ridge, Chris and Renee Baldwin, of Jasper, Amanda Buttrum, of Jasper; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frankie Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Forest Memorial Park.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
