Peter Francis Hiro, 62, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home. He was born July 29, 1954 to John Charles Hiro and Rosemary Purcell Hiro in Port Chester, New York.
Peter was the second youngest of eight children and grew up in Danbury, Connecticut. He attended Immaculate High School in Danbury, Connecticut and received a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Mathematics from Western Connecticut State University. He later obtained an MBA in Finance from Kennesaw State University, Michael J. Cole College of Business. He taught Mathematics at Immaculate High School for several years before he transitioned into a 30+ year career in the relocation industry where he was deeply respected.
Peter was a talented athlete, MVP and captain of his high school and college football teams. He loved being out on the golf course with his Saturday morning men’s group. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, step-father, and grandfather. Friends describe him as a generous, genuine, wonderful and kind person with a never-ending youthful smile on his face and always a warm hug to give. Peter was a man of great faith and deeply devoted to the Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Hiro and father, John Hiro.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Hiro of Jasper; daughters, Rebecca Clasper of Woodstock, Katharine Hiro of Scottsdale, Arizona; son, John Peter Hiro of Jasper; step-daughters, Allison Flaishans of Athens, Meredith Hill of Atlanta; granddaughter, Charlotte Clasper of Woodstock; son-in-law, Jon Flaishans of Athens; and grandson, Dean Flaishans of Athens. Many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews also survive.
A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 6 at Our Lady of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church with Father Frank Richardson officiating.

Mrs. Dorothy Raynes, 83, of Tate, passed away Friday March 3, 2017 at Pruitt Health Care in Jasper.
Mrs. Raynes is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy & Wayne Mulkey of Dawsonville, Brenda & Kevin Williams of Jasper, Jimmie Lee Raynes of Jasper and Janice & Danny Costlow of Talking Rock; sisters, Frankie Atkins of Jasper, Janie Moore of Canton and Ovaline Wofford of Jasper; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 5 from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Revs. Autry Dean and Eugene Childers officiating. Interment at Free Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers that served: Brian Costlow, Brandon Raynes, Hunter Raynes, Steven Mulkey, Randy Mulkey, and Darren Mulkey.

Ms. Janet Brown, 52, of Dawson County, passed away Thursday March 2, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Ms. Brown is survived by her sons, David Brown of Dawsonville, John Brown of Dawsonville, and James Matthew Bennett of Dawsonville; brother: Daniel McFarland of Ellijay; and grandchildren: Dakota Chance Brown and Skylah Brown.

Mrs. Mildred Smith, 76, of Tate, passed away Tuesday February 28, 2017 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. Ralph Colombarini, 94, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday March 1, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Colombarini was a veteran of the Army Air Corp. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Ralph Jr. and Lyn Colombarini of Jasper and Louis and Christine Colombarini of Tennessee; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Pete Gambino of Florida; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
