Eagle’s Rest will host solstice events Saturday

Eagle's Rest, the new park in the Burnt Mountain area, (at the end of Monument Road) will host two summer solstice events Saturday. They have also recently opened hiking trails there.

At the first event Saturday, the Summer Solstice moment at 6:25 a.m., the sun will rise to the sound of music…a singular flute and the sound of drums.  It’s that magic moment for reflection and serenity.

The second event will involve a picnic at 5 p.m. followed by lecture on the history of Mt. Oglethorpe by president of the Mountain Stewards and author Don Wells.

The public is encouraged to bring a picnic. Drinks and cookies will be provided by the Mt. Oglethorpe Foundation.

There is no rain date.
