The bridge that crosses Talking Rock Creek in the Jones Mountain area is closed to vehicle traffic.
The bridge on Highway 136 that crosses Talking Rock Creek will be closed until further notice, according to Pickens’ Georgia DOT engineer.
Following a state inspection the bridge was found to be unsafe for passing vehicles.
According to GDOT Area 1 Engineer Sam Wheeler, he is waiting on word from the state bridge inspector regarding repairs that will be needed. Wheeler said at this point there is no timeframe for when the bridge may reopen.
The bridge is located northeast of Jasper, less than a half mile on 136 after turning off of Burnt Mountain Road on to Jones Mountain Road. The road becomes Yukon Road in the Gilmer area.
