Georgia Forestry assists county crews with a brush fire off Carnes Mill Road.
A brush fire that broke out off Carnes Mill Road mid afternoon Monday, has been contained, according to Pickens County Fire Chief Bob Howard.
The fire was caused by an employee of a nearby business burning material too close to a field.
Winds spread the fire into nearby woods. Georgia Forestry crews arrived shortly after county crews and assisted with containment efforts.
As of 4 p.m. Howard said while the fire has been contained, but crews are now working to extinguish hot spots in the burned area, which he said could take well into the evening.
