After a morning of test-taking, timed ciphering and teamwork, PCMS found themselves tied for 1st with Armuchee Middle School with 270 points. PCMS was unable to win the tie-breaker and came in a very close 2nd place.
In the individual competition, Colby James found himself in a similar situation as the team. Tied for 2nd before the tie-breaker, Colby came up just short and took 3rd place. Other top 13 finishers included David Rivera (8th), Lauren Pitkins (11th) and Ellie Pool (12th). A total of 13 teams and 104 individuals participated in the event. Paula Henderson, team sponsor and math teacher, said this about the team’s performance, “The kids did really well considering they had just come back from an extended amount of time off. We were unable to hold scheduled practices due to the snow days. We are very proud of all of them.”
