St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated Saturday, March 15, from 10-to noon at Sharptop Arts Association, 68 D.B. Carroll St., Jasper, just around the corner from Stearns Bank. This celebration promises to bring The Luck of the Irish to all who participate so get your O’fficial Participation Form in early and be ready to dance a jig on
 D.B. Carroll Street!

The street will be closed off for individuals and businesses to set up vendor booths to sell their wares or raise money for their favorite organization. Vendor fee of $10 is due on registration, proceeds will benefit the Pickens County Animal Shelter.
Youth Organizations
Cheerleaders, soccer teams, softball players, this is your opportunity to band together, bake some cookies, make some lucky charms and raise the funds your group will need for summer activities. You must wear green, but that’s not hard for us to do, we’re in DRAGON country!
Merchants and Services
Bring your wares and show your support for the creative side of our community. You are encouraged to sell items with appeal to our young folk and their families.
Non-Profits and Support Organizations
This will be a fine opportunity for you to share information about your purpose and mission, sign up volunteers, generate awareness about your group.
St. Patrick’s Costume Contest
Wee folk are encouraged to come in St. Patrick’s Day costumes - homemade would be best - and participate in our judging for the most creative costumes in these categories:
    • Leprechaun Award - best costume, elementary school age and younger
    • Patty O’ Pickens Award - most creative costume, middle school
    • Dragon Dynasty Award – best group (3 or more participants) high school
Leprechauns are said to be fond of musical instruments, freely playing tin whistles, fiddles and the Irish Harp. If you are musically inclined, entertain us as you mix, mingle and visit with vendors.
Inside Sharptop Arts Center you will find A Pot O Gold…. Artwork created by Pickens County elementary students on display for you to view and vote on “Best of Show.” This is truly a weekend to celebrate the richness of youthful creativity.
Honorary guest at this first St. Patrick’s Day Celebration is Pickens Animal Shelter. The Shelter will be on hand to talk about responsible pet ownership and numerous pet supply vendors will be present with information, supplies and more.  Booth rental proceeds, $10 per vendor for this event, will provide much needed food, medicine and supplies for our furry friends at the Shelter.

I tend to wear orange on St Patricks Day, when I notice it at all.
