$215M Powerball jackpot up for grabs Wednesday

ATLANTA – The Powerball jackpot has reached an estimated $215 million to a single annuity winner for Wednesday’s drawing.

The Powerball jackpot began rolling Dec. 28 and has rolled 11 times.

Four Georgia Lottery players won $10,000 from the Feb. 1 Powerball drawing. Two of the winning tickets were sold in Duluth and the others were sold in Decatur and Ringgold.

Powerball offers two jackpot payment options: the $215 million annuity prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $124 million.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Players can add the Power Play feature for an additional $1 per play to increase non-jackpot prize winnings.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.

I need to howl about how it's OK for the state to be in the gambling business but me & the Red Barron can't have a low priced friendly poker game without being in the dog house.
