Cold weather brings woes for homeowners

Busted pipes, water damage spell doom

        Global Restoration pumped more than 1,500 gallons of water from this commercial building after frigid weather froze the sprinkler system. Soaked ceiling tiles had to be removed as part of the restoration.

    Shawna Isaac’s son spent Monday insulating pipes in his mother’s home after frigid temperatures earlier this month left her with busted pipes and a soaked crawlspace.

    When temperatures sunk to near zero the first week of January in a cold front that brought a “polar vortex” to Pickens County, many homeowners discovered too late, they had insufficient insulation on their pipes.
