A single car crash took the life of a young bride who was riding with her new husband after leaving the reception in Ball Ground Sunday night, Dec. 29.
According to a Georgia State Patrol report, Kali Shay Dobson Quinton, 25, of Ball Ground, was killed when the Pontiac Firebird driven by Ryan Patrick Quinton, 27, of Jasper, left the roadway and went down an embankment in front of a church on Highway 5 in Ball Ground.

Mr. Quinton was injured and transported to Northside Cherokee Hospital.
The couple had been married earlier that afternoon at the Wheeler House in Ball Ground.
Ga. State Patrol Post Commander Tim Nichols said it was only a couple of miles away from the reception when the crash occurred.
“It’s tragic anytime,” Nichols said. “But it’s especially tragic when it happens within a couple of hours of being married.”
The report issued by the GSP said that Quinton told officers he had swerved to avoid a dog in the roadway when he lost control.
Mrs. Quinton was killed after being ejected when the car went down the steep embankment.
The state patrol will continue the investigation using their specialized wreck team.
