Boys and girls aged 4-14 met for the first time at the Pickens County Rec. Department on Saturday for the first step in 2013 youth basketball season.
After registration ended on Oct. 7, the Parks and Recreation Department received dozens of young applicants on the courts all day for a skills evaluation. The children lined the walls of the gym and demonstrated their abilities through a series of dribbling and shooting drills. The teams will be in-house only and are divided by age and sex. The season runs through January with the goal of allowing every child a chance to play.
