Georgia Attorney General Olens to deliver dedication
A dedication of the Pickens County Courthouse is scheduled for this Sunday, Sept. 22 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Pickens residents are encouraged to attend and tour the newly remodeled facility.
“We want everyone to come out, enjoy the speakers and take a look at the inside of the courthouse,” said Pickens County Commissioner Rob Jones who included courthouse renovations as one of the 2008 SPLOST-funded projects when he served as sole commissioner.
Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens will deliver the dedication speech, with other local, state and federal leaders to participate as guest speakers.
Following the ceremony, which will begin at 3 p.m., the courthouse will be open for self-guided public tours until 6 p.m.
“The public will be allowed to enter the courthouse and visit the various offices and courtrooms,” said Pickens County Public Information Officer Norman Pope. “The county is very proud of the courthouse. We hope to have a large crowd because this is a good opportunity for people to see the finished product.”
