Sharptop Arts association is launching their 2013 Open Mic Night series, and they are encouraging performers to come out, brave the microphone and showcase their talents to people other than themselves.
The first Open Mic of the year will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26. For this first show Sharptop will feature musician, thespian and visual artist Eric Reinhardt. Locally, Reinhardt has participated in numerous theatrical productions for the Tater Patch Players, most recently playing Dennis in the wildly popular musical Smoke on the Mountain, which was picked up by the North Georgia Acting Company and which toured multiple playhouses across the region.
Reinhardt has been involved in many musical projects over the years, most recently playing lead guitar with local bands The Dashcrackers and Missus Quackenbush. Come hear some his originals and then hang around for the open mic portion afterwards.
Performers of all ages and genres are invited to sign up for up to 10 minutes of stage time.
The show begins at 7 p.m. at the arts center on D.B. Carroll Street in Jasper. Open mic performers will begin at 7 p.m., and the featured performing act, this month Eric Reinhardt, will begin at 8:30 p.m., or after the final open mic performer plays.
Sign-up for open mic starts at 6:30 p.m. At this time SAA is unable to accommodate full bands that include drum kits. Acts must be able to set up and break down quickly. Sign ups are first come first serve. To be fair to everyone, no signups will be taken before the day of the show and it is asked that you keep your content PG-13.
Cost is $3 at the door.
Light refreshments will be available.
