Friday night, Sept. 14, will be an exciting night in Pickens County! Not only will the Dragons make their home debut under new Head Coach Chris Parker, but also members of the PHS Athletics Hall of Fame Inaugural Class will be recognized. Before the Dragons line up against Northwest Whitfield at 7:30 p.m., there will be a ceremony beginning at about 7:10 to honor Mr. Fred Anderson, Mr. Chad Wigington, Mr. Steve Eubanks, Mr. Tommy Pye and Mr. Charlie Chastain.

In addition, Mr. Michael Oubre and the Pride of Pickens Marching Band have a spectacular halftime show prepared for your entertainment. Tickets are $7 each at the gate and, beginning next week, student tickets can be bought in advance at all local schools for $5, but will not be sold at the gate. There is a $2 charge for parking and the proceeds completely go to help fund the Pride of Pickens Marching Band and the PHS cheerleading squad!

The members of the band, the cheerleading squad, the football team and the coaches have been working hard this year and you will definitely want to come and be a part of the excitement. I would like to personally invite everyone to attend the game and join us in honoring  the Dragons of yesterday while cheering on the Dragons of today.

Tommy Pye will be among those honored at tonight's Pickens High Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony. See bios on Hall of Fame inductees in our print and e-editions.
