“Boo-Who?” scarecrow contest application deadline Sept. 24

scarecrowSubmitted by Royce Hayley of The Burnt Mountain Trading Company

Burnt Mountain Trading Company is hosting Jasper’s First (to be annual?) Scarecrow Contest titled “Boo-Who?”                          The event will be held at Burnt Mountain Trading Company and will run the month of October.  The scarecrows will be on display along Church, Mark Whitfield, and Richard Streets,   very visible locations for your name to shine!

Participants will be invited to submit a scarecrow that can last a month outdoors.  You are encouraged to make a sign no larger than 18”x24” advertising your business, group, individual, or class name to be included as part of your scarecrow.

The fee for the event is $5 along with your scarecrow, because there will be prize money for the winning submissions.  Soooo, the more scarecrows submitted, the bigger the prize.  The application deadline will be September 24, and the scarecrows will need to be delivered to Burnt Mountain Trading Company the weekend of September 29 and 30.

The scarecrows are yours and can be picked up Nov 1-4th.  Van Goghs Hideaway is upping the prize money by adding $50 to the overall prize package.  We hope everyone will participate and grow this event to where we have to incorporate every block downtown!  Please show your support of Jasper and Pickens County to all who come through town during our busy leaf-looking season and help make this a tradition for years to come.  Remember, with your name on your scarecrow, everyone knows that you are behind the home team, hence the name of the event “Boo-Who?”

Applications will be available online at burntmountaintrading.com, or at Burnt Mountain Trading Company, VanGoghs Hideaway, Madelines’s Café and Bakery, and CoCo’s Cottage on Main Street.  All application fees will become the prize money for the winning three .submissions.
