Community book sale coming Sept. 7 and 8

We’re looking ahead to our upcoming annual Community Used-Book Sale. This much anticipated sale will take place at the Appalachian Campus of Chattahoochee Technical College. This will be our 5th sale held in the technical college’s meeting rooms. It is a vast, beautiful space and we manage to fill it with a wide range of used-books, books-on-tape, books on CDs, DVDs and videos. It is an awesome sight when we’ve sorted, categorized and displayed all of the items and we’re ready to open the doors. The sale will take place Friday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
This year we have a special treat for members of the Friends of Pickens Library organization. There will be a pre-sale for members only on Thursday, Sept. 6, from 4-6 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to become a member. Membership fees are: Student - $5, Individual - $15, Family - $30, Contributor - $50, Sponsor - $100 and Benefactor - $200. You may join at the door on Thursday and take advantage of the opportunity to purchase items during the pre-sale or you may join anytime during the sale or at the library.
The sale is sponsored by Friends of Pickens Library, the Pickens County Library and Chattahoochee Technical College, Appalachian Campus, with all funds to benefit the Pickens County Library for the purchase of new books and materials.
It’s not too late to donate your used items for the sale. Donations will be accepted at the library from now through Friday, August 31. This is a great opportunity to support your community’s public library. Limited budgets keep our book buying at a minimum and the proceeds from this sale provide a big boost to those funds.
