Make plans now to be a part of this wonderful competition that offers prize money for the top entrants, $150 for best in show and $100 for first place in three categories. This year’s theme is Fun-Funky-Fabulous and however you interpret, envision, or construct your project is up to you. From painting, wall art, sculpture, pottery, 2-D, 3-D, yard art, fiber, or anything else, the world is your oyster. So start creating and bring your artwork to Burnt Mountain Trading Company no later than April 1st. Creations must be no larger than two feet by two feet (give or take a few inches is fine), not including stands. All artwork must be original work by you.
“Byron (Hamilton) and I decided to focus this year in assisting the Boys and Girls Clubs in raising funds with hopes to bringing better programs and assistance to the youth of Pickens County,” said Royce Haley, owner of Burnt Mountain Trading Company. “With the tough economy and many instances where both parents have to work and/ or carry two jobs just to make ends meet, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Pickens County plays an even more important role in shaping the futures of these young kids.”
To highlight the art contest, organizers have planned “The Whimsical Event” on Saturday, April 21st where they will auction off all the artwork to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs. VanGogh’s Hideaway and Madeline’s Bakery and Café are also supporting the event.
“The scope of the project has broadened to art in general,” Haley said. “Fun, Funky, Fabulous sets the tone since this event is all about the boys and girls of Pickens County. So whether you build it, sew it, paint it or throw it, we hope you enter it!”
Applications are due on March 1st. Read application in higher def at our event/group section.
