Immigration reform signed by governor

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal Friday signed the Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011, which passed both houses of the Georgia Legislature by overwhelming margins.

“Georgia is a welcoming state with vibrant immigrant communities and a highly diverse population,” Deal said. “These are strengths that enrich the culture of Georgia and expand our economy. There’s no better way to promote the quality of life of all who live here and no better way to protect taxpayers than upholding the rule of law.

“This immigration reform measure fulfills my promise to Georgians to crack down on the influx of illegal immigrants into our state. Georgia has the sixth-highest number of illegal residents, and this comes at enormous expense to Georgia taxpayers. Those who claim that this law will have a negative financial impact on Georgia completely ignore the billions of dollars Georgians have spent on our schools, our hospitals, our courtrooms and our jails because of people who are in our state illegally.

“In Georgia, we learned from the state laws elsewhere that raised objections from the federal government. We do not wish to go to war with the federal government. We wish to partner with the federal government to enforce the current law of the nation. Let’s remember: It’s already illegal on every inch of U.S. soil to hire someone who is in this country illegally. What we’ve done in Georgia is create a level playing field for all employers. The use of E-Verify means everyone plays by the same rules – and it protects employers by giving them a federal stamp of approval on their workforce. This also protects workers because those who live in the shadows of our society lack legal protections and they’re vulnerable to fraud and abuse. This legislation was expertly crafted by state Rep. Matt Ramsey to assure that our state protects the constitutional rights of all who live here. Rep. Ramsey knows, as I do, that there’s no better way to promote the rights of individuals than by protecting the rule of law.

“Illegal immigration is a complex and troublesome issue, and no state alone can fix it. We will continue to have a broken system until we have a federal solution. In the meantime, states must act to defend their taxpayers.”

I wonder what people would think if the illegals we are talking about were taller and had blue eyes and blond hair?

This is a very hard problem to solve. It will take lots of money from the government to deport the 11 Million Illegal Aliens who are inside the country. And even though there's a law that reprimand employers from hiring these individuals, the re are lot's of American families that hire housekeepers,ca re giver and baby sitter and pay them under the table. Comprehensive Immigration Reform will resolve the problem.Let them pay high for their violation.Plus secure the border.

I know lots of people who have had to change careers (A lot less pay) because they r getting out bidded on jobs by at least half!!The only way the mexicans can do that is if they all live together.(12 to a household) They r taking our jobs and we need to do somethig about that!!!!

All these bills they pass do not make one difference in the amount of illegals in your state. They are having babies by the gross(which are now called Americans),draw ing WIC, welfare in their childrens' names, not paying income tax. I know because I live in Oklahoma, and been jobless sine June 2010, and see them doing all the road work, construction, and everything else. Watch the youtube video The Mexican Northern Front, and you will see why they are flooding our country because of Chavez stirring the pot. A famous socialist in Russia said that one day that America would be taken without firing a shot. He was right. Just as the Incas and the Aztecs disappeared, we are on our way out. By being taken over. We have several Spanish radio and TV stations here. Not one Russian,French, Chinese station. Ihis is proof they refuse to assimilate.

They say you can't stop people from jumping fences at the border. Go to Area 51 and jump the fence. I bet you are either shot or arrested within minutes!

And the crooked s.o.b that hires them and pays them substandard wages is not breaking the law? The problem is the contractor that hires them. If they were not hired some some greedy buzzard could pocket more money for themselves they would not be working in any "sub-division" would they? Try going after the person causing illegal immigration and it will stop. Get a clue. The guy making $6.00 an hour is not the problem. The guy making thousands of $ off them is.
