FOUR LEGGED LOVE
BY: B. JOAN WILSON
A donation to Pickens Animal Rescue or Animal Shelter of Pickens County in someone’s name would make a wonderful birthday, anniversary, memorial or special occasion present and would help make sure no Buddy is left behind. All donations go to help the pets. Donations are accepted every day at the Shelter and the PAR Rescued Furniture Store.
If you are looking for a loyal and fun companion, a buddy for one of your pets, someone to talk to, take rides with, or hold in your lap, please consider one of the following pets who need a forever home to fill with laughter and love:
THE PICKENS COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER (THE SHELTER)
Volunteers are welcome and needed. Please stop by the Shelter and sign up for a time and activity to help with the animals. They and the staff appreciate it.
The Adoption Fees are $100.00 for kittens and dogs. Some adult cats are free to a qualified home; see Judy for details. The adoption fee includes shots and spay or neutering. Find out more about adopting pets at The Shelter at www.petango.com or:
3563 Camp Road
Jasper, GA 30148
>Due to some generous patrons who have prepaid the adoption fees, the Pickens County Animal Shelter has several cats that are free to qualified homes. And currently there is a two for one special on kittens. Adopt two and pay only one adoption fee – twice the love and fun for the same low fee. See Judy at the Shelter for details.
PATCHES –five-year-old beagle-Labrador mix dog
I am Patches, a beautiful tri color (black, tan, and white) mixed beagle and Labrador dog. The people here at the Shelter talk about my sweet personality and how I would make some special person very happy. I lost my old home and would really appreciate a new one. I am ready for a companion and forever home (cat-free please, I’m allergic to them). I love to play ball and I think we would make a great team. I hope you will come visit me soon at the Pickens County Animal Shelter. All the dogs and cats here are looking for a forever home they can fill with love and laughter.
Visiting hours are 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM Tuesdays through Fridays and 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday. No appointment is required. If you can, please donate cleaning materials, pet food, and pet supplies to the Shelter.
PICKENS ANIMAL RESCUE (PAR)

ELLWOOD – four-month-old Belgian-Malinois Mix male puppy
Hi, I am Ellwood a four-month-old puppy. I have had some hard times; my brother and I were thrown over a fence and left. Fortunately, the fence belonged to a dog-loving person who brought us to the PAR Ranch. We were in pretty bad condition, but the wonderful people here took great care of us and now we are completely healthy puppies. Maybe my background is why I love affection so much now. I think I would be easy to love as I have a beautiful brindle coat and I am energetic and loads of fun. Will you come visit me at the PAR Ranch? We could be best friends and I would fill your home with love, laughter and fun.
I hope you will come visit me and all my friends at the PAR Ranch. We are all waiting to find a home that we can fill with love, companionship, and fun. You can see more pictures of all of us on www.petfinder.com.
All the animals at the PAR Ranch are healthy, happy, spayed or neutered, and current on all their shots. Visiting hours are Tuesday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 4:00PM and Saturdays 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Appointments are not required.
The Annual Fur Ball is September 20, 2014. Tickets are available at $35 each at PAWS on Main and the PAR Rescue Furniture Store next door to PAWS.
