Michael Blayton Abbott, infant son of Gary and Sasha Abbott of Jasper, Ga., died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at Wellstar-Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga.
Survivors in addition to the parents include his sister, Mackenzie Abbott, Jasper; grandparents, Aracelia Scott, Myrick Mullins and Joyce Abbott, all of Jasper, and Gary L. Abbott, Canton, Ga.; great-grandmother, Alice Abbott, Jasper; great-grandfather, Jack Moser, Jasper; and great-grandparents, Marcelo and Martha Scott, Texas. Aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 from the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Wheeler officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Robert V. Jones, age 83 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Mr. Jones grew up in LaGrange, Ga. as one of nine children. His parents were Robert V. and Bertha Wise Jones. After dropping out of high school to help support his family, he joined the US Navy in 1943. He served as a seaplane mechanic for two years at Whidby Island, Wa. during WW II. Mr. Jones received his GED while he was in the Navy upon an honorable discharge. He attended Mercer University on the GI Bill and graduated from Mercer Law University in 1950. He retired after 35 years from the Lawyers Title Insurance as vice president of the Southeastern Division. The Jones? lived for the past 15 years in Bent Tree, Jasper. Mr. Jones had been an avid camper, canoer, hiker, gardener, runner, reading and involved grandfather. He took up tennis at the age of 69 and was later named to the Bent Tree Hall of Fame. Mr. Jones completed the Peachtree Road Race six times.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Verna Prince Jones; sons and daughters-in-law, Kalin and Jan Jones, and Greg and Cheryl Jones; and grandchildren, Trammell, Ivan, Peyton, Allison, Shelby and Griffin.
Mr. Jones? life was celebrated at Bent Tree Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. A reception followed at the Pavilion. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Master Mason Campbell McLeod, age 10 of Johns Creek, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at the Children?s Health Care of Atlanta.
He was a student at Ocee Elementary School in Johns Creek where he was a talented and gifted student. He loved to play football, baseball and video games. Mason wanted to be a video game designer. At Trinity Tabernacle, he was a team leader in the children?s church department. He was an avid Georgia Tech fan and was loved by everyone.
Survivors include his parents, Travis and Amy McLeod, Johns Creek; sister, Ruthie McLeod; brother, Gavin McLeod, both of Johns Creek; grandparents, Debbi and Michael Zamiskie, Villa Rica, Ga., Perry and Angela Copeland, Woodland, Al., and Robert and Diana McLeod, Williamsburg, Va.; great-grandmothers, Dorothy Schneider, Beaufort, S.C., and Louise Copeland, Jasper; aunts and uncles, Natalie Copeland, and fiance Todd Harvey, Chelsea Zamiskie, Lisa and Ty Connell, Shannon and Phillip Greisen, Russell Dillard, Lisa and Mike Copeland, Carrie and Johnny Polonsky and Christine and Doug Shuermann; and special BFF, Lindsey Aranson. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Karen Schneider.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 from Trinity Tabernacle Church in Jasper with Pastor Tim Logan officiating. Mr. Robert Wofford, age 60 of Tate, Ga., passed Thursday evening, Oct. 29, 2009 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include his mother, Grace W. Wofford, Tate; and brother, Junior Wofford, Tate.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Von Hinton and Larry Kelley officiating. Interment followed in Sharp Top Baptist Church Cemetery with Horace and Richard Wofford, Kris Martin, Scott Bruce, Wayne Cooper, Anthony Taylor and Danny Cantrell serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Mary Forrester, age 89 of Tate, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at Murray Medical Center. She was a member of Free Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Marilyn Forrester, Tate; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Charles Ingram, Jasper; sister, Prentice Turner, Jasper; grandchildren, Paige Hightower and John Ingram; and great-grandchildren, Christopher Ingram, Jessie Hightower and Caroline Ingram.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Joey Dubois officiating. Interment followed at Free Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Carol Juanita Miller-Clinton, age 50 of Marble Hill, Ga., passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at her residence.
Mrs. Miller-Clinton was Baptist. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandkids.
Survivors include her husband, David Clinton, Jr., Marble Hill; children, Felicia Smith, Dahlonega, and Misty Brooks and Craig Clinton, Marble Hill; brothers, Stanley Butterworth and Steve Miller, Cumming; and sisters, Wendy Roach and Stacy Robertson, both of Cumming. Five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Clarissa Clinton.

Luke Jackson Spence, Jr., age 55 of Dallas, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009.
He was born on July 13, 1954 in Tate, Ga. and was preceded in death by his wife, Nan Jones Spence; son, Luke Spence; and father, Luke Jackson Spence, Sr.
Survivors include son, Justin Spence, Pennsylvania; daughter, Bobbie Spence, Mableton; mother, Betty Spence, Dallas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas Spence and Greg and Robin Spence, a;; of Dallas, and Brian and Helen Spence, Powder Springs; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Robin and Michael Webb, Canton, and Lisa and Scott Johnson, Douglasville. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Home with Sam Saliba officiating. Tony and Ronnie Pendley, Mike Webb, Scott Johnson, Terry Heath and Bud Hill served as pallbearers. Interment followed in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery in Nelson, Ga.
Mrs. Patricia ?Patsy? Lowe Armstrong, age 67 of Jasper, Ga., died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009.
Mrs. Armstrong was born Dec. 13, 1941 in Pickens County the daughter of the late Clyde and Dora White Lowe. She was a homemaker and member Talking Rock First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by brothers, Aubrey and Weldon Lowe; and a sister, Betty Rott.
Survivors include her daughters, Melinda and Paula Armstrong, both of Texas; grandchildren; brothers, Jim and Robert Lowe, both of Jasper, and Coy Lowe, Talking Rock; sisters, Geneva Martin and Gwenlyn Nealey, both of Marietta, Emily Denson, Sybil Brooks, Willie Mae Turner and Sandra Wehunt, all of Jasper
A graveside service was held Friday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. from Yukon Cemetery with Bro. Steve Lowe officiating. Music was by Sandy Bernhardt and Lynn Weaver.
Mrs. Sarah Denson Mulkey, age 66 of Marietta, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavaughn Mulkey; and parents, Madison and Effie Denson.
Survivors include her sons, Curtis and Jerry Mulkey, both of Marietta; and sisters, Mary Massey and Joan Anderson, both of Jasper. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8 at Refuge Baptist Church in Jasper.
Mr. Kimsey Reece, age 75 of Lindale, Ga., passed away late Sunday afternoon, Nov. 1, 2009.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Reece, Lindale; sons, Steve Reece, Talking Rock, Joseph Reece, South Carolina, Phillip Reece, Alabama, and Allen Taylor, Canton; daughters, Anna Dyer, Lindale, Kate Oberley, Blue Ridge, and Pattie Mullins, Jasper; brother, J.C. Reece, Jasper; sister, Jessie Prather. Nineteen grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Pittman; and brother, Norman Reece.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 3 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Carl Owenby and Phillip Reece officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with local chapter #47 in charge of graveside services. Pallbearers were: Bill Wood, Shane Callahan, Kyle Haradon, Matthew Scott, Sammy Fowler, T.L. Martin and James Howard.
