Mr. Charlie ?Buddy? Jenkins, age 79 of Ball Ground, passed away Monday, April 13, 2009 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee.
Mr. Jenkins was a retired truck driver with Harris Lumber Company. He was a member of Sharp Mountain Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Charlene Jenkins, Ball Ground, and Charles L. Jenkins, Talking Rock; sister, Marie Crawford, Woodstock; brother, Bobby Joe Jenkins, Helen; grandchildren, David (Doris) Dean, Ball Ground, Tommy (Amy) Jenkins, Talking Rock, and Timmy (Mandra) Jenkins, Jasper; and great-grandchildren, Denise Dean, Brady Jenkins, Dustin Newton and Shaylee and Bryson Jenkins.
The funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Gary Kelley and James Rich officiating. Interment followed in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Jimmie Stancil, age 60 of Jasper, passed away April 12, 2009 at her residence.
She is survived by her aunt, Juanita Jones, Tate, Ga.; and uncle, Eddie Van Dykes, Chattahoochie, Fl. Several first cousins also survive. Mrs. Stancil was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Howard Stancil of Jasper, Ga.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Glenda Millsap Wilson, age 64 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009 at her residence.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Sandy Matthews, Jasper, and Rob and Trina Matthews, Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law, Tonda and David Ladnak, Ball Ground; brothers, John Holcomb, Griffin, and Ray Thomas, Dawsonville; and sisters, Joy Jarrard, Tate, Diane Jarrard and Donna Holcomb, both of Dawsonville, and Debbie Ann Colter, Chatsworth. Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 from Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Dawson County with the Revs. Leroy Kelley and John Haloway officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Eben and Anthony Matthews, Brian, Brandon and Benji Millsap, David Ladnak, Josh Buckner, Jason Oligny and David Smith. Mrs. Kay Crane Stokes, age 47 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009.
Mrs. Stokes was employed at Wal-Mart in the Photo Lab. She was Baptist.
Survivors include her daughters, Nikki and Jamie Byars, both of Waleska; sisters, Rita Bunch, Canton, and Debbie May, Jasper; and brother, Danny Crane, Talking Rock. Three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Randy Weaver, Gene Childers and Eric Mayo officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Geneva Edwards, age 84 of Jasper, passed away early Thursday morning, April 16, 2009 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her son, Alvin Lee Edwards, Marietta; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Fred Jacks, Ball Ground; and special daughter, Cheryl Wilson. Four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Dean Price and Greg Long officiating. Interment followed at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta at 4 p.m. with Jamie Edwards, Jared and Darrell Jacks, Keith Wilson and David and Ronnie Forrester serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Raymond Jones, age 63 of Ball Ground, Ga., died in a tragic accident Monday morning, April 13, 2009 in the Buckhead area of Atlanta when high winds toppled a tree which fell on his truck.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Jones; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kristie Jones, Graniteville, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jacky Mooney, Cleveland, Tn.; and grandchildren, Amber, Paige, Hilary and Cameron.
The funeral service was held Thursday, April 16 at 1 p.m. from Concord Baptist Church in Gordon County. Pastor Sammy Allen and Bros. Mark Stroud and Douglas Duncan officiating. Amon Young, age 95 of Monroe, passed away April 17, 2009.
Mr. Young was a former employee of Carwood Manufacturing and was retired from the Winder Housing Authority. He was a member of the Church of God at Oakman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Young; and his daughter, Geraldine Cole.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Bobby Driver, Monroe; brother, Newman Young, Monroe; and grandchildren, William Jerry Phillips, Stephen Kent Phillips, Leatha Caroline Mills. Five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Ruth Bennett Allred, age 84 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009.
Mrs. Allred was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Louise Couch, Clayton Community, Peggy Parker, Waleska, and Joan Meade and Jane Elliott, both of Jasper. Seventeen grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19 from Pleasant Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Gayton officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mr. James Kenneth Nicholson, age 64 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at Heritage Healthcare of Blue Ridge, Ga. after a period of declining health.
Born April 17, 1944 in Gilmer County, Ga., he was the son of the late Ruby Lee and Herbert Hoke Nicholson. Mr. Nicholson had worked as a surveyor prior to becoming disabled. He was a member of Talona Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Newton Nicholson, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Jerry Reynolds, Ball Ground, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, James and Nan Nicholson, Ball Ground, Ga.; grandchildren, Justin Reynolds, Josh Nicholson, Joey and Athena Reynolds, all of Ball Ground, Ga.; sisters and brother-in-law, Charlotte and W.L. Wilson, Jasper, Jimmie Sue Godfrey, Talking Rock, Ga., Virginia ?Pete? Coker, Tate, Ga., and Wanda and Troy Carver, Jasper, Ga.; brother and sisters-in-law, Gary and Lynn Nicholson, Hickory Flat, and Patricia Chastain, Jasper. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
